PK Nails it

I am not a fan of Patrick Kinihan but he nails it in this article. One thing that isn't being discussed in all of this is that the coaches and other players knew he was going to transfer months ago and yet Bronco didn't just sit him. Let him play and showcase his skills. Made it easier to get on at another school. Bronco has a lot of class.

Didn't seem to be an uncredible opinion since he used a great example of someone who worked his way into the NFL, with quotes from this person. Still can't help but follow me around can you.

The fact that you don't often agree with PK doesn't discredit this article. Doman wants Heaps to succeed. Heaps won't stick it out. Many college QBs who were probably a greater talent (McMahon being the most glaring example) have had to wait their turn while they learn the mental aspects of the game to best utilize their talent.



Heaps doesn't want to wait. Good luck to him wherever he goes, but he is actually quitting because he won't get to be the starter next year even though he doesn't deserve to be. Riley has outplayed him on the field, as any objective obeserver can see.



I wanted Heaps to succeed. He didn't. He floundered and regressed. Was the locker room and/or coaches solely at fault? I doubt it. Not completely. People don't turn on you without a reason. I cannot believe that if Heaps came in humble and proved that he was going to work just as hard as anyone else that he would not have endeared himself to his teamates. He went about it the wrong way. End of story. Hopefully he will not make the mistake at his next school and remember that potential is just a big 'ole fancy french word that means "ain't done nothin' yet."

I liked the article. If Heaps had performed well and not been given a shot, I would understand his decision a little better. Will transferring suddenly make him more likely to throw accurate passes and become more mobile? I don't understand his unwillingness to redshirt - he would have been the assumed starter for his last two years with a possibility of a great future. He's not going to get anything better from another school.

Heaps last play that I will always remember is against NMSU where he ducked under the rusher stepped up and threw a TD down the middle to (I think) MJ.

That one was to Falslev but it was a great play.

If it was to MJ it would have hit him in the numbers, he would have dropped it, and then he would have walked off the field and acted like someone else had just screwed up.

Did you happen to see riley yell " Make a Fetching (fetching may or may not have been the word used) play!!" When MJ dropped that pass on like the 5 yard line against hawaii? It was hilarious.

I did. It was nice to see a Jim McMahon type fire in a BYU QB. Max had that type of fire. Detmer had it too. It was quite refreshing.



I think MJ lost his fire. He was great as a freshman and just hasn't been the same since.

Exactly how I feel. Excpet I have to agree with Lloyd - It's Jimmer's fault :P

I got married and have a kid. I have gained 20 pounds, I bath less, I care about sports much much less. I can see how it would affect your play on the field.

ah, ah, ah. Lets not ascribe any blame to anything else but Jake. We wouldn't possibly blame Jimmer or marriage for Jake's failures.

I just hope that getting married doesn't ruin Jimmer in the NBA... ;)

And we shouldn't. Max Hall, Dennis Pitta, and Andrew George all got married. Did it take away their fire? Nope. If you let marriage influence how you play football, it isn't marriage that is the problem. It's you.
