Where do you think Jake should go?

I was initially thinking that if jake went to utah...I might shoot myself; but then I was thinking, how great would it be if he overthrew wide open receivers, used his rocket arm to blow off WR arms and hands and made them lose easy games because he can't take a hit?



I wouldn't mind Jake losing games at the :utard: for us.



on the other hand, if he goes on to greatness...



at least he met his wife at BYU....

I'd like to say "as of now I officially don't care about Jake Heaps," but that's not true. I'll check his box scores at whatever school he goes to. It'll be interesting to see if he really does perform better under a different set of circumstances.



Part of the problem is that if he sticks to the region, there's not a whole lot of appealing options. A lot of the Pac-12 is already loaded at QB (UW, WSU, Cal) about to be loaded at QB (Utah).



I know it's funny to say "UCLA!" but UCLA would be an awful decision. If you're following their coach hunt you know that NOBODY wants to coach there. On top of that, they've literally failed to develop something like FIVE Elite 11 QBs. You think BYU is bad with their three, when one never actually played here and another came here after he'd already been booted out of his first program? UCLA is way worse.

I've said it before. If Jake transfers, it means he is a quitter. He quit on his team, he quit on his fans, and most of all he quit on the guys that he recruited to come play with him. What were the reasons he quit? Because he got benched, bottom line. This is not a good precident to set in life, if you quit whenever things get hard or when they don't go exactly your way, it can lead to quitting every time things get hard. I am disapointed that he is leaving but not sorry to see him go. We don't need quitters on this team.

Weber St. so he can play us next year. That would be the kiss of death. The kid had no patience. He will redshirt some place else and maybe get to play. Redshirt here and be the started next year. Plus there is a chance he would have started next year if RN gets hurt early in the season.

As much as I wanted to see the kid succeed at BYU, man, did he have a strong sense of entitlement! It feels like that, more than anything else, is what led to his downfall. Look at the history: He started by generating, on his own, big publicity day to announce his recruiting choice. Then, from all evidence from the team (as read in various posts both here at CougarCorner and elsewhere), divides his teammates with his declarations of his own greatness. Then, ignoring the fact that most great college QBs, especially at BYU, take a few years to learn the position, including a redshirt year (invaluable in winning the confidence of your teammates [see Max Hall]). Then, instead of acknowledging his need to redshirt next year, decides he is bigger than the program and leaves.



I'm sure he is a nice kid. But he read way too many of his own clippings. He needed to go run the scout team for a year and earn more respect from his teammates, then come back and set the world on fire his junior and senior years.

I don't know where he thinks he will go. My understanding is that he is going to have to sit out a year (almost like if he redshirted at BYU). My guess is he will want to stay on the west coast. From BYU's experience with him I am guessing he will want to go someplace where the position competition isn't that strong, but that rules out just about every Pac-12 school he might be interested in. Boise State was mentioned in another thread but they may have a new QB established by the time Heaps is done sitting out.



I think it could end up being UCLA. They like big armed QBs to chew up and spit out. I don't think it would be a good situation for him there.



He could go to Utah, but Wynn will be back, plus they have liked mobile QBs and he doesn't fit.



I don't think he finds a better place to play, but he may find anonymity as a backup getting your school paid for. He can't really get that at BYU.

He needs to go to a school that will plays inferior competition and will give him 7 hassle-free seconds to pass. He would look fantastic given time. However, based on what seems to be a large ego, my guess is he'll shoot high like U of Washington or some pac-10 school and will get dominated with flashes of brilliance. Pretty sad..

The natural man in me wants to see him fail and fail badly. Bad natural man. Bad natural man.



There, I hope Jake finds what he is looking for and enjoys the success he has probably worked hard for since he first started playing. Sadly, the grass is not always greener, and in some cases it is blue.

I hope Heaps goes to Utah. Chow did wonders for the last five-star BYU QB transfer.

My impulsive answer involves two toothpicks. Jake subverted himself and then divided his teammates, the coaching staff, and the fan base by failing to deliver to the expectations he created for himself and by failing the accountability section of the leadership test after previously getting sub-par marks for off-season work ethic and team participation. Got high marks for excuse making, though.



I hate to see players transfer unless they are just not up to par. With patience, Jake would have had as good a chance for success here as he would have had anywhere. I started to feel this coming when even Apo and some of the young studs started praising Nelson.



If it means anything, the Hawaii fans are raving about Riley Nelson today. Good day at the office, other than straightening a password expiration problem that locked me out of my email over the weekend - wasn't supposed to expire on a weekend.



With Jake gone, maybe we can snag that So. Cal U of Utah recruit. One of the guys in our small group Saturday has a son on his team. I am sure I will hear from him. I will ask if there is any chance he might see an opening that was not there before.



Anyway, I will try to convince myself to hope for the best for Jake. He is adding experience. He should improve.



I will maybe wish him well in person.

I say he needs to get back at Riley Nelson and really show him up. How does he do that? Transfer to Utah State and take them to a national championship!
