Man, with the right lineup on the floor, this is a very fun team to watch. Have I mentioned that Nate Austin has been a game changer?

All this talk about Austin, which is exciting, I'll admit. But in the meantime, Hartsock is quietly getting in done in a big way. The guy is extremely consistent and easily our best player this year. He's slowly gotten better every year back from his mission and is really as solid as you could ask for.

Couldn't agree more. Hartsock has had an incredible start this year. It's too bad he wasn't used more last year.

He wasn't one of BYU's 4 best players against Northern Arizona.

:skeptic: 4 boards, 2 assists, 3 blocks, 2 steals, 0 turnovers, and 11 points in 26 minutes. I'd say he was one of our best 3 vs. NAU.

Yup. Not a bad day. But 4-10 shooting and 4 rebounds isn't great for Hartsock. We had more efficient guys, and better rebounders both in that game. You could make a case for Noah 5th-best (Abouo was 3-8), but Charles had a couple turnovers too.

Hartsock has undoubtedly been our best player, and most consistent, on the season. But every player has at least some ups and downs. For example, Brandon Davies was much better against NAU than NH. 13 rebounds for one thing.

Yeah, Davies and Zylstra had better games than Noah, but it's not like we needed him to step up. I'm not saying he's statistically the best player every single game, but if you look at the stat line, even against NAU, he was probably our 3rd best on the night.

P.S. Not exactly "devil's advocate", but you know I like the point-counterpoint style of posting. It helps the board have a more balanced view.

P.P.S. It's good to know I'm not the only one willing to argue non-important points from irrelevant games...

Through eight games here are our team leaders in PAP (Point Available Percetange) - essentially the number of points scored vs the number of points they could have scored if they never missed.

For a point of reference, BYU's team PAP is .508

Austin: .625

Hartsock: .603

Davies: .541

Rogers: .523

Abouo: .511

Sharp: .484

Zylstra: .451

Winder: .451

For further comparision, last year, BYU's PAP was .481 as a team. Jimmer was .503 and Emery was .442. Our team leaders were Davies at .561 and Hartsock at .523
