Oregon?

Anyone know anything about this team?

I just looked at their record. 4-1 with a 12 point loss to a top-10 Vandy team and 4 wins over nobodies.

Oregon currently scores on average 74 points a game, 34.6 boards a game, dishes out 14.8 assists a game and shoots 47.3% from the floor.

BYU, by comparison puts up 76.6 points/game, grabs 38 boards a game, produces 18.4 assists/game, and shoots 51%.

Ought to be a good barometer for us. On paper, we're slightly better. It will be a good matchup.

Oregon is on the "rise" a bit. No one on their team averages more than 12 pts/game. Their main player is 6'6", 210 lbs forward E.J. Singler. I haven't seen him play, but understand he's pretty good. My guess is Abouo will take him.

Other leading scorer is senior point guard Garrett Sim. Will be a good match up for Winder.

I saw them play a couple of minutes. They had a forward that was really athletic (had a great dunk). They have a freshman that we wanted to replace Jimmer. Forgot his name but he is getting minutes. The coach is in his second year, came from Creighton and is doing a good job rebuilding the team.

They're top ten in ugliness of homecourts. Good thing we're playing in SLC.

Abouo and Davies combined to shoot 5-of-25 against Oregon and turn the ball over 7 times. Good thing the rest of our team made up for them.

Oregon isn't very good. They haven't beaten any good teams. The best judgement of a team is who they've beaten and how good those teams are.

Yes. Until we beat good teams we can't be any good. Your schedule is the only reliable metric available to determine how good you are.

If you don't beat good teams you can't be good because you're only beating up on bad teams. And if you lose to good teams then you clearly aren't a good team since you can't beat good teams.

I take it you don't believe in either offensive and defensive efficiency ratings or Margin of Victory. Both can point towards a good team playing a bad schedule, or a bad team racking up cupcake wins. Not to mentions variables, such as injuries.
