Utah is in 7th Place tie in PAC

with ASU at 4-5 if I calculate correctly. That, I suppose depends on how they calculate Cal at 5-5. I am not sure why Cal and Colorado ended up with 10 PAC games - but they did. Well - Colorado played at Hawaii an dplayed 13 games as allowed.



Point of all of that being - it could be a 3-way tie for 6th if they just look at the loss column.

Cal vs. Colorado was a non-conference game since they were scheduled to play prior to CU joining the conference. Thus, Cal's Pac-12 record was 4-5, the same as Utah's and Arizona State's.



If tie-breakers mattered at that point, which they don't, Cal went 2-0, ASU went 1-1, and Utah went 0-2 against the other 4-5 teams. You could make the case that Utah finished 8th then.

Let's go with 8th - that will be most satisfying to most BYU fans - and seemingly the most fair assessment.



If PAC gets both Oregon and Stanford into BCS bowls - Utah could get bumped up to a reasonably decent bowl - and get thumped. Jerry Palm projecting Utah in Sun Vs Virgina. That should end up being a loss - but Utah does overachieve in Bowl games.

Virginia has been a Jekyll and Hyde team this year, and I'm not convinced that they're a loss for the Utes. I'd much rather see them in some bowl game against a 6-6 team.
