CougarbibBYU once again has changed the landscape of colege football. UCLA won their division and will play in inagural PAC 12 CCG at Oregon only to become Bowl ineligible at 6-7 with another blowout loss on the heels of the 50-0 USC loss. Hawaii faces a similar fate if we beat them - played a 13th game and then goes 6-7 instead of 6-6.
If UH beats Tulane as expected, but loses to BYU - they will be 6-7 they will not be bowl eligible. At 6-6 they would have been going bowling in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. Of course 7-6 would get them in - but BYU can and will be expected to prevent that - so on Black Friday tickets to the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Game were being promoted on the radio at $20.00. If Hawaii gets in it - Sheraton will regret giving those away. Without UH - with arifares that can flirt with $1,000 on short notice during the holidays - fans from two other teams may be a little in short supply and locals would not shell out $50 to go see it. The annoying announcer on the Country Music Radio station here - yes they actually have one - caters to the military - ponited out that the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl was created in 2001 after UH "THUMPED" BYU - and unexpectedly became bowl eligible in December - but did not get invited to a bowl. Then he went on to say that if UH beats Tulane today - all they need to do is "THUMP" BYU again and they are in. If you think UH can pull that off - buy up the tickets at $20.00 now and sell them for double later. This bowl game was literally created to ensure that a bowl eligible UH team never gets left out again - ever. As I said - BYU once again has changed the landscape of college football. Here is how this relates to UCLA. If USC THUMPS UCLA as expected - UCLA at 6-6 will go to the inaugural PAC 12 Championship Game and get THUMPED by Oregon or Stanford. That will make them 6-7.
Does this mean that as a result of edging out Utah to play in the CCG - UCLA becomes bowl ineligible? Does the CCG count. If it was Utah going - their win oover us would have kept them Bowl eligible.
Would a 6-7 UCLA team still be Bowl eligible if the 7th loss came in the CCG?
