If I am Riley, I make sure I am there and I play. Odds are this is just a ploy to keep Hawaii on their toes.

In a move completely out of character for me borne out of a kitchen remodel that went south when a contractor measured a wall 13 inches short and an oven opening 1 1/2 inches short - imagine the delay to have revised cabinets made and shipped from the mainland, and me being proactive and having the guy I gave my old cabinets to remove them when the new cabinets arrived and before they realized the measurement error, I have no kitchen and we are going to Turtle Bay for TG dinner. I wish Riley could join us. I just imagine it would be a fun conversation for me. Then Riley could loosen up his ribs on the golf course.



Our ward was scheduled to feed the homeless Dec 3 as we do every year. I brought up the game conflict a week ago. There is a conflict every year. It was UW and a 21 point UH comeback win one year. I remember guys going outside to get score updates and relaying them back to the serving line. We do a Christmas program after feeding and eating at the shelter. That got moved to Friday by our Stake President Bode Uale. But that will conflict with the fireside - which is at a different stake this year. But I want to go. Would that be a sin? Maybe Riley speaks? Jake. More likely a homeboy or two plus Bronco.

Riley or Jake will be targeted by the UH defense. The survivor will likely get to face a Tulsa defense that may be about as good as Texas, TCU, and Utah.

If I was Bronco, I would probably let Jake start to give Riley more time to heal up for the bowl game. Riley still isn't 100%, so he needs recuperating time--especially if he plays and gets hurt in a way that intensifies his injury and prevents him from playing the bowl game.

I'd play Jake because he's actually starting to play well.

This is most likely the answer, because all we've seen from him this year is tucking and running. Oh wait... never mind.

This does highlight the importance of having a timing passing game, though. And yes, that typically means a one read then throw offense. That has to be part of the equation in order to keep a QB healthy. Riley can improve on that skill, just as Jake needs to improve his patience at times if hte first read is not there.



Seriously, if we could combine the two, we'd have the prototype QB we all want.

Early as a freshie, it seemed like Jake was doing well with his progressions--doing them quickly and efficiently. Now, it seems like he's lost that due to lack of...something. Fire? Passion? Confidence? Is he now lazy?



If he gets that back, and he doesn't worry about taking a hit as much, he'll wait to make 3 or 4 reads before making a throw.
