Week 11 RER & Other Statistical Observations

Here is the RER for the New Mexico St game and the season RERs in parentheses.



DiLuigi: 186.80 (102.64)

Kariya: 125.20 (139.73)

Apo: 214.30 (125.83)

Jacobson: 214.80 (108.49)

Hoffman: 51.84 (177.76)

Falslev: 245.70 (115.37)

Matthews: -100 (86.05) (4 of the 13 INTs thrown have been intended for Matthews)

Friel: 184 (262.30)



- The 4 TD passes were the most since the bowl game last year.



- BYU averaged 5.1 yards per carry. It's the fifth time in six games, BYU has eclipsed that mark.



- BYU was very good on 2nd down. They faced 21 2nd & 7 or longer, but only 7 3rd & 7 or longer.



- Stephenson averaged 53.0 yards per punt.



- Sorensen after making 9 of his first 11 FGs has now hit just 3 of his last 9.



- New Mexico State's one play of 20 or more yards was the fewest against BYU this year.



- With NMSU's 104.87 PER, only four of BYU's last 24 opponents have eclipsed the 135 standard.



- Heaps' PER in the 2nd half was 178.09. It was his best half of the season. He also has six TD passes in the last two games. Which is twice as many as he had in his first five games.



- In six career games in November he is Jake's stat line: 5-1 W-L. 110 com, 176 att, 1418 yards, 15 TDs, 3 INTs, 62.5% com, 154.89 PER.



- Jake on 3rd Down the last two games: 9 com, 14 att, 122 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs 184.63 PER

Look at Falslev! Feed that guy the ball.

He doesn't have enough potential and has already reached his ceiling. He is (was) a walkon from Logan of all places for heaven's sakes.



More seriously, they announced in post game, a senior is graduating early this semester - and Falslev gets to pick up the schollie in January. He deserves it. If you go on BYU TV when the replay comes available - watch for his show of speed on his YAC. There is one play late where he actually looked fast. Really fast.

Falslev's a So., and I refuse to believe he's hit his ceiling yet. However, I say that Apo and Hoffman should be our go-to guys in tough situations. Otherwise, spread it around as much as possible. :) :D
