Why does Boise St. Want BYU in the Big East?

they wanted AQ access and they didn't like the changing scene in the MWC. They truly believed at that time they committed that with BYU, Utah, TCU and themselves, that the MWC would earn AQ access. Then suddenly everything blew apart. They are fighting for relevance, one of our driving forces.



But number six, "Gosh darn it we're so freakin nice and they like us!" was tempting.

A new rivalry with Boise might be fun. But as is the case with everything, its all about the money.

I don't think it is fill their stadium since it is so small as is and they should already be filling it (don't know if they sell out). It is a better match up then the WAC teams they get. They have the same issue as we do for home games.

Yeah, it's pretty tiny. I go to a BSU game once a year - I think they always sell out or come close. The Idaho Statesman ran an editorial back in 2009 whining because fans didn't come out in full throng for the NMSU game. I looked at the attendance numbers - it was only 2,000 below max capacity. :roll:

BYU in the Big East makes the Big East stronger. It's in BSU's and all the other currrent and future Big East teams best interest to have the strongest conference possible.



BYU give BSU a legit rival other than AF within reasonable distance of their school that die-hard BSU/BYU fans can travel to. The rivalry is a money-maker too for Boise. Utah/SLC businesses will lose money over the loss of the rivarly. Money that Boise businesses will gain.



BYU to the Big East draws more eyeballs and more money for the conference, which helps all those involved.
