Tough Loss for LMU

Tough loss for LMU following great win. I think this is how the first month of BYU might go as everyone is adjusting to life after Jimmer. Have potential to win some big ones, and could easily lose some we never would expect. But I am super excited for this season. Hope the development comes, and by the end of the season we are firing on all cylinders.

Funny that oldestlion wasn't the one to break the news. Just wondering when he's going to show up to give Middle Tennessee State (16-16 last year in the Sun Belt Conference) credit for outplaying LMU.

I stayed up to watch the Zags last night, and WOW they looked good. We'll really need to do better in every area if we are to compete with them this year

Their freshman point guard had 8 3's when I went to bed. He looked good too.

He ended up with nine, and all of them looked like good shots, no crazy "whay are you taking that?" style shots

Sorry I didn't comment but I usually don't get on this site more than once a week and I'm really impressed that anyone is interested in what goes on in our little high school ygm.



We got it handed to us by MTS. They flat out beat us, mostly on the boards and in preventing our point from ever getting into the game. That's an obvious weakness for us - stop the point from being able to distribute and we're dead, particularly with our lack of depth. MTS is a very good team, despite last year's record and they will move up several notches in the Mid-Major Top 25 poll next week.



It can get worse as Top 25 Mid-Major #8 Harvard comes into our high school gym tonight, a 5 point favorite with all 5 starters back from last year's 25 win team. We'll really need a big game from Ashley Hamilton to stand any chance at all.

Of course we're interested in what goes on in your little high school gym. We're conference mates now. We have to be aware of what our conference competition is going to be like.

Another loss for LMU and while I asked for luck, we didn't get it. Ashley Hamilton went out with a high ankle sprain in the first half and didn't come back except for a brief moment in the second. PG Anthony Ireland managed to penetrate and picked up 26 but we had no rebounding (even when Hamilton was in), no second shots and bad defense against Harvard's inside and inside/out game.



Harvard outrebounded us 41-23 and despite the fact that we started well with a 25-12 lead early, they figured us out, went on a run and never looked back.



It's not going to be a good year, especially the way Gonzaga and St. Marys are playing. The coaches weren't far off in picking us sixth but that might be too high. Don't know how the Cougars will fare because we have not seen you against top-flight competition yet. Thank you for BYU TV.

Big win for LMU!



It's the second win over a then Top 25 team and the Lions 75-68 upset over St. Louis in our little high school gym was very impressive considering the Billikens' record over the weekend.



Granted, St. Louis had tired legs after weekend play against some very good teams, but the Lions were without top scorers/rebounders Drew Viney and Ashley Hamilton. Still, we shot 45% over all, 54% on threes and 80% from the line against a team that keeps most opponents under 60. We forced 15 turnovers and had 10 steals.



Senior LaRon Armstead, who plays very little, countered traps againsr DuBois and Ireland with 24 points.



That's it from la la land.

Well done. A good win even if they were tired.
