BoiseBYUThe Bottom Five is devastated and really does not know where to go from here. New Mexico had lined up the season of all seasons with their ineptness on both sides of the ball. AND THEN THE FREAKIN LOBOS BEAT UNLV! How can this be?!? And so many other head scratchers. What to do?
5. Old Missus. They lost to La Tech. At home. 27-7. Not even close. Sure the SEC has LSU and Alabama. But the SEC also has Old Missus and Tennessee to explain....
4. They are not really in the Bottom Five, but BSU does get special attention for REALLY blowing the spread. They were supposed to beat TCU by 20...They didn't. They lost. At home. P.S. the all orange unis are hideous enough to justify enjoying this loss even a little bit more....
3. Stanford wanted more exposure. What they got was exposed..a pretty good offensive team and a not so good defensive team. They got waxed by Oregon. At home.
2. Texas A&M has now lost four games where they were up by double digits in the second half and fourth quarter if my memory serves me right. This team is showing promise as one who knows how to pull defeat from the jaws of victory. At least these dudes had the decency to lose this game on the road.
1. UNLV deserves to be number one this week, what with losing to New Mexico and all. But how does Ohio State lose to a very crappy Purdue? And how does a bad Arizona team nevertheless lose to a REALLY bad Colorado 48-14? And how does Arizona State lose to a crappy Washington State 37-27?
Honorable mentions: FIU beat FAU 41-7. I do NOT want to know what the initials stand for...Texas Tech whooped Oklahoma 41-38 and then lost to Oklahoma State 66-6. So I think Oklahoma State should beat Oklahoma 100-0 or so, yes? That is if the past is indicative of the future....
