Armed Forces Bowl

I'm thinking about driving down to Texas with my wife and son for the Armed Forces Bowl on Dec. 30. My son will be going into basic training in January, and it might be a nice chance to do something together. It's only about an 11-hour drive from where I live. The game tickets are less if I buy them by Nov. 14.



I'm assuming that BYU is pretty much sure to go, but would there be any risk to getting the tickets now? Is there a chance that things could change?

I can't see things changing. I plan on going down too.

Nope contract is done. Once BYU won 6 games and lost 1 game there was no chance of BYU not going to that bowl game. Go ahead and buy your tix.

It sounds like a pretty good matchup. Good chance it will be Tulsa.

I would imagine that, like most contracts, BYU can buy their way out if something better comes along. I'd imagine the chances are slim, but I don't think the AF bowl is a certainty.

I have the odds at 99% for BYU to go to the armed forces bowl. Why would they go anywhere else? They're not that sexy this year so no other bowl will be clamorng to get them. And the game is a Friday game, right before New Years, so BYU wouldn't really want to move to a different day either... it couldn't really be any better.

it could definitely change. espn owns the vegas bowl and the armed forced bowl. if there is more money to be made moving byu somewhere else, it could happen.

Vegas bowl will take the MWC team. No way they give a waiver for BYU to take their place, especially when BSU looks like BCS and TCU would take that place.



My brother is friends with the LV Bowl Director, and per her, there is exactly 0% chance BYU goes.

BYU's going to the AF Bowl, I am as certain about that as I am that the sun is coming up tomorrow.

I agree with this in theory. But, realistically, what could possibly happen that would make it change? I cannot see any significant story line develop in the next three weeks that eaither makes BYU more sexy to another bowl, or to make the Armed forces bowl more sexy to move another team there over BYU.

well, you saw what happened with boise state last year. they were moved to vegas to play utah. vegas always wants byu. having a byu utah match up in vegas would make sense financially. just not sure if armed forces bowl would be happy about it, but if tcu were slated for vegas bowl, it may make more sense to have them in the armed forces bowl. yes, i agree it is a long shot.

When it comes to the Armed Forces bowl, the only variable at this point is who BYU's opponent will be.

I am investigating going, since I can't go to the Hawaii game, and I've been to every bowl game under Bronco, I'd hate to break the streak.

They should give them out to the people who run the best cougar sports forum on the internet.. and it's regular posters!
