It would mean taking Boise, Air Force and perhaps Colorado St. from the MWC.

After what the HAIR did to us, I would love for nothing more than for us to make sure his conference is left with NOTHING. The list of schools he will have lost is impressive.

TCU

Utah

BYU

Air Force

Boise St

Colorado St.

it's almost sweet enough to make me ignore all the disadvantages of the Big East...

Almost.

Now remind me exactly what Hair did to us. We chose to leave the MWC. And yes - when we were about to blow up his conference, he blew up the WAC and USU to save the MWC.

And yes - we parked our other sports in the WCC instead of parking them in the WAC. Would you really rather be in the WAC? Really?

I think Hair did us a favor. Now if you are bent that he wouldn't let us leave them in the MWC - OK. I guess, but seems like a toss-up to me.

The reality is - whether we go or not - The WAC is dead in football, THe MWC / COnf USA willl do the best they can as the leftovers conference, and the BEAST WEST will fight to survive as the BCS transition conference.

BYU just needs to decide whether gaining BCS AQ status and predictable scheduling is worth giving up the perks of Independence that they may have to give up. BYU needs to decide if it can compete in BEAST WEST. It is a big step up. NOt in terms of top end. MWC was as tough at the top. The step up is in playing fewer absolute gmme games at the bottom.

Maybe Big 12 will pop back in as a white horse - but can BYU really even be mid-level competitive in that conference?

Bronco wants BCS access. Maybe it is affecting recruiting now. Maybe he is just frustrated with scheduling.

But I am in for BEAST WEST if we do not give up fan access via BYU TV or other broadcasts of games not picked up by Conference TV partners. And I love the replays.

Almost.

Bib, the MWC made a habit out of making life more difficult for BYU. That is why BYU HAD to leave when utah announced it was leaving. utah was our only alli in the conference and the two of us together carried a lot of weight. As you can see from some of the other posts on the board, religious bigotry was not something that was exclusive to the PAC when it came to conference affiliation. BYU got the worst of conference scheduling, often having to play our toughest conference opponents on short weeks when the conference gave them bye weeks. I always wondered how utah got a bye the week before our game. TCU got byes before our game a couple of times as well. What Hair thompson did as far as destroying the WAC was just business but that wasn't the only thing they did when BYU was trying to go independant. utah and TCU got loving press conferences when they left, BYU got ridicule and scorn, it was complete hypocracy. Look at the video gate scandal, the conference came out and sensured BYU when BYU did nothing wrong, but when utah got the benefit of video gate in their game, did you hear any sensures? The bottom line is, the MWC had two sets of standards that it treated its members with, one for BYU and one for everyone else. Does it surprise you that BYU fans would want to screw the conference and its membership?

Bib2 has made a habit the last week or so of being contrarian to everyone and everything on CC. Either someone is secretly using his account, or he's just having a really bad week and feels like arguing to take out some frustrations. Hope you get things figured out, Bib2, and you can get back on the happy train.

I have a hard time buying your assertions.

TCU got one bye week to prepare for BYU in 2006 (TCU lost). In 2005, BYU got a bye week to prepare for TCU.

In 2000, Utah got a bye week to prepare for BYU (Utah lost). That's the only time they had a bye week going into the BYU game in he MWC era.

TCU was screwed more than BYU. TCU had to play BYU and Utah in consecutive weeks in 2005 and 2006. BYU never had to play TCU and Utah in consecutive weeks. In 2008, TCU had to travel had a road game at UNLV and then played at Utah on a Thursday night the next week. To travel in consecutive weeks with one of them being a short week is unheard of. Every time BYU had to travel on a short week they would be at home the previous week. This year, the MWC took away a home game from TCU at the last minute this year and gave it to BSU. The conference hasn't done anything like that to BYU.

Good observation, Schmoe. I usually like Bib2's takes on things but he has been a little off center this week - much like Mars was a few years back.

Not sure what my feelings are on the future resting spot of the Cougs. I'm tending to have a "wait and see" attitude about it. Whatever happens, I'll support it 100%. I for darn sure don't want to come out and make some stupid polarizing statement and then have to eat my words later on. But, that's what you get with one who has a non-confrontational personality like me!

something like if BYU were to somehow someway through extreme coercion and threatenings find its way back into the MWC, I'd have to eat MY words?

I think we'd get an SEC invite before we ended back in the MWC. Well maybe if they changed commissioner. And dropped SDSU. and Nevada. And Fresno. And UNLV. oh what the heck. If they replaced everyone, they'd also need to get Utah back, and TCU. They'd need a BCS bid, revenue splits according to conference attendance, advertising and overall draw. gave us public apologies (i know, I'm reaching here), ...oh.

nevermind. SEC is still more likely.

Now you've drawn your line in the sand and I'm going to hold you to that. Mark this day down everyone!

I am going back on my memory pretty far but I remember utah getting bye weeks before the BYU game at least a couple of years in a row back in the 90's. I also remeber TCU getting a bye week befor the BYU game, it must have been in 2006. TCU did have a tough deal going up against BYU and utah in consecutive weeks but BYU also got AF early in the season a few times which is a death sentance to play them so early. In fact, the only losses I can remember against AF is when we played them early in the year.

Sorry - can't get on the hate train. How ironic that we hate MWC for hating us as we continue to discover everyone else hates us too. You may have enough energy to hate them all, but I choose to believe there are good and bad and in- between people everywhere.

Old guys like me remember black arm bands worn by WAC opponents, MWC snubs, PAC snubs, Big 12 Snubs, BCS snubs, elitist arrogance of many BCS teams, bad NCAA seeds, bad officiating, and being voted most hated team in NCAA - Texas and ND East being contenders.

Maybe Indy is the only path for us if we have to hate everyone thT has done us wrong.

Long list - I don't deny that. If you find this to be too contrarian - my apologies.

My bad - I thought we left for Exposure and better fan TV access to escape the MTN contract. I know Trolls think it was a Ute envy rebound thing - but I heard independence and Exposure were already being worked. And yes we have long had a list of MWC grievances and they have had theirs - we left for Exposure and IMHO - Hair did us a favor in bumping us to WCC then because WAC would have eventually been blown up by what is going on now. The Lord blessed us with a Go Directly To WCC Card - do not pass GO and do not GO WAC.

Any reason that I might have for wanting or not wanting BYU to accept an invite to the Big East has absolutely NOTHING to do with Hair and/or the MWC.

It's bias. It's prejudice. It's Mormonism. Call it what you want.

And I thought that we left for exposure...?

Yeah, I don't think we'll ever go back the the MWC.

I don't doubt that exposure was a major part of it. BYU could not have stayed in the MWC without utah no matter what they said to the media. When you file for divorce, do you put a long list of greivences in the papers or do you just say it is for "irreconcilable differences"?

I was told once that irreconcilable differences usually refers to a very specific non-compatibility of the marriage

Either way, we were looking for a better spot in the media, and so we would have left soon, whether Utah bailed for the Pac-12 or not.
