What kind of team are we?

A mediocre one? A decent-good one? I ask because BYU's play is puzzling. We blow out bad teams and usually shoot ourselves in the foot when we play good teams. It's puzzling because mediocre teams don't usually blow out other mediocre/bad teams like we do. But decent-good teams usually compete a little more than we do when the competition gets tough. Maybe BYU is in it's own little category, something that doesn't fit the standard labeling. I'm curious to see what people think.

I'd say we are a middle of the road team. And you know what Mr Miyagi said about being middle of the road.

You're right Devbo, BYU is in its own little category. Its called independence. :)

The team is talented, physical, with fortitude........ but mistake prone. BYU owned every statistic against TCU but the 3 turn overs that cost them the score board.

We are mentally weak team. We can finish games, but we can't start them.

Inexperienced - thus mistake prone

We're a team with a rookie OC and coaching staff the preaches football as the 5th most important thing.

Ding, ding, ding!! We have a winner!!

How about a very good team except when facing adversity. If we were winning maybe we wouldn't have made those mistakes.

My first thought was that we're a mentally weak team, but this is a totally different team than the one that mailed it in for the second half of Utah. There were times I thought that we could win, and with every stumble, there was a getting back up. I'm willing to take a moral victory here, we gave this game away, but never quit like against Utah, this year is all about prepping for next year and we learned more in this loss than we could have in a win

Next season is our chance to make national noise. If we can't do it next year then I am accepting the likely fact that our glory days are behind us.



Nelson cost us the game it's true. But he can be coached to know when to take a sack/throw the ball away. By next fall I expect those mistakes to disappear.

We're mentally weak because we're intimidated by the moment. Once we got into the game, we played TCU relatively even. But the mistakes of spotting TCU 14 points on three plays made us press in other key moments.
