Different Game Same Story

Bronco's team not prepared for a big game. In every aspect of the game it was mental mistake after mental mistake. Before the half not making a decision to kick the field goal until the last second was a rookie mistake.The preparation of the team really needs to change,we are not good enough to spot good teams 14 to 21 points.

Very good points. We're good in close games (18-6) in games decided by 7 or less under Bronco. The problem is if it's a big moment early (big games) we can't compete early. We're mentally tough late, but very weak early.



16 of Bronco's 24 losses are by 10 or more points (include 10 by 20 or more). He knows how to compete when the game is tight. He doesn't know to get the team ready for the big moment.

Bronco hasn't figured out how to methodically come back from deficits. It's often an all or nothing approach and against good teams BYU gets nothing more often than all.

I do not want to come across as dog piling, but the only player who looked like a deer in the headlights was our punter. The rest came to play. Mistakes to be sure but they did not play scared.

Ogletree had two HUGE flubs in the first drive that gift-wrapped TCU the quick lead. I could argue that if Ogletree plays under control, the whole game changes.

I would throw Uale in the mix too.



Ogletree's bad coverage should have Uale there as a safety net. He jumped on the crossing route early, and it was pretty well covered by us. That left 40 yards of open field in front of the wr.



He also had another blown coverage for a TD. Is Mike Hague and co. that bad, that they doesn't see any time?

Just once, I would like Bronco to acknowledge the week prior to a big game that the opponent isn't just some regular opponent. That he's working the team extra hard to make sure they're prepared for the big game.



Yes, yes, I know...one week at a time...we prepare equally hard for every opponent...blah, blah, blah. Perhaps that is Bronco's problem. Not all opponents are created equal.

I certainly see your point, but in 2009 we beat #3 OU and went on to beat a #21 Utah. Yes, we did lose to #8 TCU and Florida State, but we did win some big games. I do tend to believe those wins had more to do with the NFL caliber players we had than coaching.

I think they needed to hit each other in practice more this past week.

I remember in the OU win a couple years back I remember Bronco jumping around high fiving his team. I just don't see that passion, maybe the team needs to see that fire from their coach in those big games. Also nepotism is hurting our team. Uale should not be on the field, I have seen blown coverage after blown coverage. Since he is such a "good guy" he gets playing time. Hopefully Bronco can get if figured out and maybe go to the Nick Saban/Les Miles camp for big game coaching.
