and multi-year scholarships rather than the 1 year renewable kind. Prevents some of the baseless scholarship yanking going on at non-BYU schools.

I have mixed feelings about the $2000 for expenses. Some schools, particularly those that are not BCS schools, may not have the money to a student athlete an extra 2 grand. Athletes will be drawn even more to schools that have the money to pay them.



I see and like the effort to try and keep schools from paying athletes, but an athlete on the fence is going to end choosing the school that pays him the most. So, unless you start paying athletes like every other top program your recruiting is going to take a hit.

One step in the right direction.

$2000 over a 9 month academic year is about $215 a month. That's a decent amount of spending cash for a college student.

So how many other sports will have to be dropped so the schools can afford the extra stipend to their football and basketball players?



Some schools will be able to afford this, and some won't - so this will also help the "rich get richer".
