Which game would you rather have back

If we could have one do-over this season (thus far), which would you rather have---Utah or Texas? I think with Riley in the second half we could have mustered a win at Texas. With Utah I'm confident the outcome would have been much different as well. If I had to choose one I'm going with my heart and picking the Utah game--can't stand losing to them.

Utah destroyed all of our credibility and our stats for the whole year. half our season turnovers came in that game and I don't think a team should EVER give up like that.

That, an I'm not sure we'd beat Texas playing them again. I'm 98% sure we'd beat Utah playing them again.

AS far as if we'd win, it would depend. Are we playing the same Texas team that starts Gilbert for the first half? I think BYU could beat the same texas team that they lost to, and I think BYU could have a good game against Utah (remember that the first half of that game was close, despite BYU's turnover bonanza). Texas now and BYU now would be an interesting game.

Silly question. :utard:

Texas win gives us much more exposure and means a lot more on the national stage.

Utah. If BYU beats Texas only to be pantsed by Utah, than any credibility from beating the Horns is gone. If BYU loses close on the road to Texas and beats Utah, we're looking at a 1 loss BYU team with that loss being a respectable loss.

utah, not even a question for me. That was the most humiliating loss I can remember as a cougar fan. #1 because utah is a bad team this year and would be a bad team even with Jordan wynn, #2 because that was not the real BYU team this year. (though most fans are basing their entire opinion on BYU's capabilities this year on that one loss). Without the utah loss this year and a close loss to Texas, our fans would be flying high right now, with the utah loss even though BYU has been beating teams easily for the last 3 games, fan's all think we really suck and just haven't played anyone.

I take a 17-16 loss at Texas over getting hammered at home to Utah. Sorry, but you have to win at home. Getting slaughtered at home to a average team stinks. You can live with a road loss.

utah isn't even an average team this year, they are a bad team. You will see this weekend when an average OSU team beats the pants off of them.

Especially when that loss is to your hated rivals.

Utah will more than likely finish dead last in the Pac12. Even if we win the rest of our games that's a big black eye.

Texas was on the road and it was a 1 pt loss. We get "credit" for playing them close.

I'd rather have our only loss on the season being a 1 pt loss to Texas in their house than a 44 pt loss in our own house.

My internal conflict is that if Riley played the second half at TX we most likely win the game. If he played the whole game vs Utah we still lose because the supporting cast was just plain aweful. Jake wasn't responsible for all the TO's nor for the breakdowns in defense (I'm looking in your diretion #7 - deep third is not the same as deep flats!).

So I am conflicted because it may not have been as bad a blow out and the first TD may have only been a safety, but the team as a whole was so bad i don't think Riley could have made a big of enough difference. We probably would have won vs TX.

Although Jake and T. Brown sure got things started on the wrong foot with that fumble in the endzone to start the game. We saw on Saturday how much better Riley handles that situation than Heaps did...

I actually don't put the utah loss on Jake. The wheels came off our entire team that game. That is why I want this game back so bad. I don't think BYU would EVER play that bad overall again. If we played that game 10 times with the lineups that they had (no injured wynn) BYU would probably win most of them. That is what has me so irritated this year about them in the pac 12. They are making the best case EVER for non bcs teams not being able to compete in a BCS league and yet they played like the freaking NE Patriots against us.

The Utes and the Cougs are both reminders of how 1 player - the QB - can affect the entire team. Wynn lifted the Utes and carried them that day. Without Wynn - look how far the entire fleet has sunk.

BYU just the opposite. Started out without a real QB and everything was out of synch. Now we have a real QB and everything is improving around that.

I would love to be playing Utah Friday night - with Nelson and without Wynn. It would be another blowout - a much more pleasant one.

Playing Texas Friday night would be like playing the Texas team we saw in the 2nd half, speaking once again about what a difference a QB can make. We would be better than we were that day. They would be better than they were that day. It would be comparable to playing TCU Friday night.

But, I would love to undo that Ute debacle. We would be top 15 right now if that was a W.

I'd rather have the Texas game back, because if we started Nelson in the 2nd half it likely would have been an easy win.

The Utah game, I would move from that week to our bye week, Nov. 5th. Because now that they're busted up, we would take them.

+1 The UT game for sure. Too many of y'all care about Utah and their program.

You would really rather win against Texas and then get destroyed by Utah, losing almost everything we would've gained from the Texas game? :gross:

It's not the :utard: program that we care about. It's the Y. And losing by 44 points at home to your instate rival who is in the first year of BCS-dom while we are in the first year of Indy is absolutely disastrous for our program, no matter how you spin it.

If the :utard: were undefeated and looking at hte rose bowl, then maybe it gets excused somehow. But the :utard: sucks. Bad. And they just laid the most embarrassing loss in the HISTORY of our program on us.

So, ya, I'd MUCH rather have that game back than the Texas game.

Plus, there's the fact that I'd put our odds of beating the :utard: right now at about 85% - 90%. But our odds of beating Texas right now are 50/50 at BEST. If I'm taking a game back, I want it to be the one that we are the most likely to win.

I disagree with this second paragraph. If Utah buried us by 44 in route to a Rose Bowl appearance, it'd be a huge blow for recruiting and reputation as there would be no doubt as to where the two programs were heading. As it stands, the score looks weirder and weirder in hindsight every day - I don't think the gap is as big between the two programs as we thought 5 weeks ago, and hopefully people can see that.

If we can beat TCU, I think we can restore a lot of reputation.
