There is no QB Controversy

I agree. Nelson plays with grit, and his passing has improved. The position is his to lose.

Agreed. RIley has just outplayed Heaps by far. Our best chance to win at TCU will be with Riley at the helm.

I honestly don't believe there ever was except in the minds of Heaps apologists...

I just wish everyone could stop talking about it altogether. Yes, Riley is the better QB this season, Heaps isn't and got pulled. Now I just wish people would just leave it at that. The Heaps vs. Riley thing, and the Riley's guys vs. Heaps guys, and Riley fans vs. Heaps fans, and whatever else you want to call it is making me very disillusioned with this season. My gosh people, BYU is now 6-2 and bowl eligible, and after every game it's the same diatribe... Riley still awesome, Heaps still sucking... Honestly, I don't give a rats behind who is QB as long as BYU wins. Lets stop letting the QB drama overshadow the ENTIRE FREAKING SEASON! Seriously people... Enough is enough. Let Jake be for Pete's sake and focus on the team now.

I'm with you on this. I don't think there is really a QB controversy--I don't think it existed the last two weeks, and any remnants were put to bed this afternoon. What is happening on the message boards is not so much a QB controversy as an "I-told-you-so" fest.

True, I'm tired of it too. I think everyone is in a rut over this. It didn't help that the hard core Heaps crowd was so dang adamant about the infallibility of Heaps. But the time for eating crow should be over. The point of my post was that we need a distraction. There's not much to talk about after the ISU game and so people are going to talk about the same thing they've hashed out for the last 2 months.

I think the post game conversation should be getting ready for TCU. :)

More evidence. There were a few times where it seemed the offense seemed to go to sleep. Did anybody else notice? And Riley brought them back to life with his runs, converted a 3rd, etc.



Riley still has velocity problems at times and saw again today. But he can recover and compensate in so many ways that many other qb's cannot.

Riley did play smarter today on gis runs, but isu is far inferior athletically.

The controvery is over and done. If Riley gets hurt hopefully Lark could step up bc Jake still needs a lot of work.

I'm going to go out on a limb here. Because everybody thinks Nelson is going to get hurt, I'm going to predict he doesn't, that he will make it through the season unscathed, and improve every game, and look awfully good by bowl time.

The reason this is still a topic after so many weeks is there were a small, but adamant remnant that discounted Riley Nelson's superior play by claiming that it was solely due to playing against inferior opponents, implying that Jake Heaps would also be looking as good as Riley Nelson has given he had the chance to play against the same terrible defenses. This was the first game where both QBs got to face the same defense and it was finally put to rest once and for all that Nelson is just plain better.



Frankly I'll be glad to put the whole nonsense behind us too. There really isn't much need to talk about the 2 QBs anymore. There's nothing left to say.

Riley threw several throws of his back foot. There were a few plays where he turned around and the DL was in his face and he had to rush his throws and couldn't get his hips and body into the throw.
