No way. We'd be pissed if the tables were turned. I expect better from KVN. It was a cheap shot and there's no room for that at BYU.

Personal fouls happen, these are kids, they make mistakes, sure he shouldn't, but it happens. It has nothing to do with it being BYU or Miami, it just happens... And don't come in here thinking your guys won't get hit.

The punter shouldn't have even been down there. Yes, it was a late hit, but KVN had no way to know that was the punter setting up in front of him to block.



There is a reason they teach qb's to run the other way when you hand off the ball. If you look like part of the play, you are liable to get hit.

The IS coach and KVN had a nice chat afterward. If they can get over it, so can we.

It was a cheap shot, and uncalled for. KVN was right to apologize to the coach afterward.



He also owes that punter an apology. Blocking is one thing. Cheap shotting a defenseless player is another thing.

Mistakes happen. Van Noy is not a dirty or cheap shot player. He's a very athletic, gifted, aggressive football player. A misatake was made - Kyle apologozed - he "manned up" - all good. Move on. If Idaho won - the coach wouldn't have been so upset.

You've all missed the real issue. What a stupid question to ask by the reporter.



A good rule of thumb is if you are a university paid reporter,

and if their all-American was taken out by a late hit by one of your players, don't ask their coach if their team got better. Stupid question. I'd be mad too.

??? What happened? Obviously I missed this part of the game somehow. Maybe due to the fact that I was on the road all day.

AMEN! :angry: Those were my thoughts exactly at the time. The coach was already pissed off-- don't compound the problem with a stupid question!

It happens, it's football. I was at the game so I didn't get a good look at it and I didn't get to watch replays over and over, but they threw the flag, what else do you want. Bronco didn't go ballistic when their guy did a diving facemask grab and almost took our guy's head off, because he realizes that it's football and $#!+ happens.

I'm pretty sure Van Noy knew exactly what player he was lighting up. I don't buy Fowler's opinion that Van Noy didn't know who it was. I think it was cheap, but I'd stop short of dirty as I don't think there was intent to take the guy out of the game.

For what it's worth, ISU's coach sounds like a real hothead. Sounds like KVN was very humble and sincere in his apology and like Schmoe said, it's part of the game.



PS- If I've got the body of ISU's Harrington, I'm kicking the ball and heading straight off the field. He makes Tayshaun Prince look like a body builder.

That was a cheap shot and so was this.

Wow are you serious? It was a cheap shot and worst of all it was after the play was over. Hell yes that coach had every reason to be pissed. It wouldnt have mattered if it was the punter or any other player it was after the play had ended! We were all made at Neveda last year when Funga got hit and his knee blown out. That was a cheap shot and so was this.

Late hit head on is one thing, but from behind rolling over a guys knees is in another arena of cheap shots. I also think the face mask on Apo was a lot worse of a cheap shot as the defender had nothing on that tackle except the face mask and could have done a lot more damage than van noys hit.

I agree that KVN hit was not as serious of a cheap shot. I was only using the Fuga hit as an example and it was the only example that I could think of that all us would probably remember. The Apo face mask was bad only because the Idaho player never even made an attempt to let Apo's face mask go and twisted the helmet as he went down. When I saw it I wondered if it wasn't retaliation for the KVN hit.

This was nothing like the hit on Fuga and Fuga shrugged the hit on him off as being part of the game.



It was a late hit. It was not very late. It should not have been made. It was more of a block or hard bump than a hit. It was not aimed at the head. He didn't level off into him. It was a guy standing straight up turning and popping another guy that was standing straight up. From what I saw. EDIT: Concussion. It was defintely not an attempt to injure him. Pops like that go on all day long in most games adn would not cause an injury.

It - grab of facemask on Apo - twisting his head around 3/4 turn to bring him down to the ground while running - was ten times worse than the Van Noy hit. And the guy then looked back at Apo - like take that. That facemask was so aggregious I am surprised it did not cause a serious neck injury.

I thought it seemed like a retaliation as well, especially with the look on the tacklers face after he took Apo down.
