Does Sua-Filo want to come back to that mess?

UCLA is an unfixable mess right now. The NewWeasal got a few recruits to buy in but he never delivered. Xavier Sua-Filo belongs in Provo.

This is the same Arizona team that took a beating from Oregon State, a team we dominated on the road.

Yes - this Arizona team also lost to 4 Top 10ish teams in a row. OK - USC isn't top 10ish.



They are awful - sort of. Watch for their stock to rise. If we played their schedule this year, we would have exactly the same record they have or possibly 1 more win - that being OSU assuming we beat UCLA.



Having said that - he should transfer to BYU - The TIde is Rising

Bib - a negative outlook does not equal a realistic point of view. That kind of crap works in the white house but does not represent outlook and feelings of the general population.

Exactly what negative outlook that I posted did you find to be unrealistic?



My point was that, Craig was being a little unrealistic in painting UCLA as being the suckiest suck that ever sucked for losing to a "really bad" Arizona team.



Sorry - records aside - Arizona is not a really bad team. They beat N. AZ as one would expect, but then lost @Okie State, Stanford, Oregon, and @USC and @Oregon St., before beating UCLA.



They are not a good team. Not an awful team.



The only negative comment in my post was that BYU would likely have done about the same except beating Oregon St. which we did and UCLA which we hopefully would.



Let me know where the unrealistic part lies.

With Riley at QB, I believe we beat the bottom to middle of the pack teams quite readily (CO, AZ, OSU, WSU, UCLA). I believe that we have a 50% chance against Yewts, WA, ASU and USC. don't believe that we beat either UO and Stanford. Therefore, I don't see how our record would be comparable to AZ or UCLA.

Let me help you. we did not have RIley at QB at that time. I said that if we played that schedule, our record would be about the same except that we beat Oregon State. If we played that schedule, we start out with Jake and hopefully beat N. Arizona with KVN providing the come-from-behind TD. We lose to Okie, in week 2. We lose to Stanford in week 3. ANd in week 4, after USC is killing us, maybe we have the sense to switch to RIley but he probably comes up a little short. Then we go beat Oregon State with Riley. Then we go beat UCLA with Riley.



If we don't switch to Riley at all - we get 1 win maybe 2.



If we played that schedule with Riley all the way - we beat N. AZ, Oregon State, and UCLA for sure. We have a shot at USC. We may not do so well agains the other three who are all Top 10ish teams.

Let's use your math.

N. AZ - W

Okie State whom you did not mention and seem to have forgotten about - L

Stanford - L

Oregon - L

USC 50/50

OSU 50/50

UCLA 50/50





2W + 3*.5 = 2W + 1.5W = 3.5 WIns



My OP - I said 3 wins for us i.e. same as AZ actual 2 wins plus Oregon State = 3.



You want to call that negative and quibble over whether to round up or down and you say that is not comparable?



Did you forget Okie State?

I don't get how UCLA sucks so bad. They have so many things that make it a hot bed for recruits. Get slick Rick out of there. They recruit well and still haven't turned the corner.. maybe one more year and the patience of the fans will run thin....

Slick Rick was a mistake and has been everywhere he has been as near as I can tell.



He assembled his dream team of coaches. Both former BYU guys. Norm Chow OC. Dwayne Walker as DC.



Now, Chow is at Utah. Walker is now HC at NMSU iirc. UCLA paid a ton for that team of coaches and it all went up in Smoke - and Mirrors.
