Utah State not a very good football team

They have some great players and can play for a half or so, but they sadly just aren't very good. I really wanted them to be good this year, but they aren't. I've been keeping 1/2 an eye on the Fresno St. game and they did well for a half, but now they're in big trouble and likely to lose. I think USU is done for the year and have no chance to win the WAC.

To my eye, Keaton's a big part of the problem. As a QB who's only expected to make a handful of short throws, he's fine. Fresno somehow managed to shut down the run game, and he can't get anything started.



His pass selection is awful. Far too many deep bombs to 1-on-1 receivers when better options are available.

best three quarters team in D1. Worst 4th quarter team. I really wanted them to rise up.

If you don't win PER you are going to struggle to win. BYU won the USU PER battle 124.83-114.05.

USU is a beat up, down-trodden team that is trying to emerge from the shadows. Dont the y play Utah later in the year? That should help. :-)

Call me overly spiteful, if you wish. I do wish the Aggies the best - especially because of the way they stood up for us a year ago in the MWC/WAC issue. But it just cankers me to root for their ex-Puke coach. I really kinda hope they crap out with him as coach and then get another. I'll be able to pull for them again without the mixed emotions I now carry.

A good friend of mine (who is a Puke fan) told me before the BYU-USU game that if USU held a lead of 14 points or less going into the last half of the 3rd quarter, they would lose. He has proven to be a prophet. He says Gary Andersen changes his coaching philosophy when they have a late lead and goes more into protecting the lead than staying the course. It has burned them over and over this year. It used to irk him when Andersen coached at the U because of that.
