What is up. Statement coming on Indepent Flagship netowrk - is that symbolic of staying INdependent? Are we going Big Easy - Football only? Big 12? Or just announcing a home and away with Weber State?

Were those really Big 12 Jets at the Provo Airport last wek?

BYU has been talking with various conferences

He did not come right out and say it - but it seems that Big 12 will be quiet or now - Missouri could change things whether they stay or go becasue then Big can decide whether to stay 10 or go 12 and whether they need 0, 1, 2, or 3 teams.

I think he said exactly what he needed to say. Also I think he said most of what fans have wanted to hear for a while.

I was thinking most fans were hoping to hear that Big begged us to join and we said no - so we could let Utah fans know.

Obviously Tom Homoe cannot and did not go into how close it came or exactly why it did not come - but Sunday Play and BYU TV probably played in to it.

I think Tom Holmoe is lying. I saw on twitter that we had an offer signed, sealed, and delivered! ;)

Sounds like BYU has been in talks, but they haven't really gone very far. No invite offered, no invite turned down. So that's where we are, despite Twitter's best effort to convince otherwise.

Holmoe when asked by KSL "BYU is not in or out of anything"

Asked about timing of some next step

"the situation changes by the week"

BYU has talked otr multiple conferences. Things are stil in flux.

this sounds like Bill CLinton's use of the word "relations"

It's kind of like a marriage proposal. You won't ask until it's a sure thing. No offer until everything is agreed. I don't think this means anything, but it sure is nice to hear him talk. But Why not do it on Byutv? That's the oddest thing of all.

Tom Holmoe is as dishonest as Bill Clinton? :bug:

For a five minute interview, there sure was a lot of nothing said. "We haven't been offered by the Big 12." Everything else was blah blah blah. Don't get me wrong, could be best to not say anything, like they always do. Just didn't see anything in there dramatic enough, or responsive enough to require a media mtg.

The truest part of Holmoe's comments: "I think a lot of people think they know a lot about what is going on. The reality of it is they don't."

A lot of people saying Tom Holmoe owes the fans an expectation are now suddenly wishing Tom Holmoe would have just maintained his silence.

For all those supposed sports radio jocks who were confirming a Big 12 invite, how embarrasing it must be to find out how utterly and completely clueless they are....If they had an ounce of shame they'd shut up for a while.

Exactly. B12 and BYU negotiate until everything is settled, they sign the contracts, and then the "invitation" is offered and the press conference is called.

Unlike the BigLeast who apparently invite BSU and AFA knowing that the invitation will be declined. Stay classy.

In my opinion this is just political spin by Holmoe. The two sides could not reach an agreement as to what acceptable terms of an invite would include, so an official offer was never made, so technically BYU never turned anything down.
