So although he could learn what he really needs to learn from Riley, he might miss it due to being distracted by those things Riley does that he can not do.
But Hays. He is right handed. He is not highly touted. He is inexperienced in a new system. The Utes got him in August by accident when his school shut down their football program. Hays brought Utah back, so far, after Pitt Special Teams scored two TDs and got a 14-3 lead without their offense doing anything.
They are bringing more heat than Heaps ever saw. Hays has completed passes by standing in, setting, and throwing and taking a hit as he throws. Got a few late hit penalties too. He has moved out of the pocket to buy time - not as elusive as Nelson, but buys a little time. Hays is not great and won't be unless he is - think JC transfer Sarkisian. Hays has to carry the load. he will be unspectacular. But, he makes plays. He plays tough. He does not wear hosiery.
