OSU unis

Uniform-watching is one of my favorite elements of college football; I don't know if anyone else here reads Paul Lukas' column/blog, but you should. (He's a big fan of BYU's unis, and has called them on at least one occasion the best unis of any non-AQ.)



Oregon State, IMO, holds the distinction of being the one team whose Pro-Combat uniform was light-years better than their traditional uniform.

No funky designs, good use of black, and I love that solid-black matte helmet. It's almost like Phil Knight is secretly an OSU fan and gave them the one good pro combat, and is secretly trying to make the Ducks look as ugly as possible.

I hate that helmet logo. OSU has a pretty cool "OS" logo in their team iconography, but instead they go for a "edgy animal" logo that looks like it belongs on a mid-90s NBA jersey.

I like OSU's pro combats--I especially like how the put the stripes on the sleeves of undershirt since there's little room for stripes on the sleeves of modern football jerseys. I'm not a big fan of the matte black craze has hit, and I think the blank helmet would look better with the addition of the interlocking OS logo.

Thought I'd add a picture of their regular home uniform to the mix to give a better comparison to their Pro Combat's



They definitely look very old school and a lot better then some of the stuff I've seen Boise St and Georgia wearing recently.

Right, it's just... that helmet logo is awful. Most teams, outside the Penn States and Alabamas, came up with some awful-looking logos in the last 15 years or so.

OSU's beaver helmet is definitely in the same category as the last one. Their "OS" logo is up there with the oval Y: sharp, simple and timeless.

Different logos for different uses. I like this logo more than the oval-Y as a general logo representing BYU sports. But the oval-Y is great as a helmet logo.

I liked the uniforms that night. Especially when Rodgers is on his butt as Bauman scores.
