OCCUPY

Possibly the dumbest movement ever. I'm as ticked as anyone about the way things are going here in America, but when I read stuff like this brilliant philosopher offered, it's no wonder we are in the mess we find ourselves.



From an occupy SLC protester:



"I’m here because it’s pretty much impossible to find a job right now,” Eaves said. “Corporations try to hire as few people as possible right now. They [corporations] make lots of money. They could pay a lot more in taxes and they would still be good.”



You sound like one of the major political parties planted you in the middle of this "occupy" campaign to spread propaganda, but let me get this straight. You want to tax corporations who are making "lots of money" as if that is somehow going to help with your job search? I don't get it. Don't you think when corporations get taxed they have more reasons NOT to hire you (aka- can't afford new employees)?



Anyway, it doesn't sound like these protests are anything more than an extended sleepover.

If you're an occupier, you better hope these corporations aren't watching the news. Because if they are and they recognize you, they just may move on from hiring you.

dumber movements than occupier? how about the Greek's protesting an increase in retirement age when even AFTER the change it'll still be less than the age of the German workers paying for their bailouts.

I am wondering why these "occupyers" don't start their own companies if they think they could do it better. Is there anything more stopping them than what stopped the companies they hate?

Because that would require real work and long-term determination and commitment. It's much easier to sit around on Wall Street, play with your iphone, and watch your dreadlocks grow.

Because to hire anyone they'd have to negotiate with the unions to avoid hypocrisy, and who wants to negotiate with a union in this economy?

Who wants to negotiate with thieves (AKA- Unions) in ANY economy?

Another advantage to them having their own companyies is that they could hire as many as they wanted to and pay them incredibly high wages and have lunch with the union bosses. Not only that they could pay all those evil profits to government as their "fair share"! Yes, and then more and more of the occupiers could have more and more free lunches. Why don't they see this simple solution?

The Occupiers would probably love to start their own businesses. But when they look around at who they might hire, they know they don't know anyone they'd like to hire. They certainly know they wouldn't hire anyone out there occupying with them.

McDonald's is always hiring. Degrading work? yes. Better than starving or begging on the streets? yes.





There are always jobs available for the people who really want them

It's all perspective. I spent 2 years in Ukraine when I was about 20 years old. The McDonald's workers there were happy, kind and interested in their work. They knew they had a job that most people in Ukraine would kill for. But for some reason here in America it's viewed differently, even if it pays the bills and keeps you out of an occupy rally.

I hope the occupiers didn't get too cold in that snow storm yesterday.

Isn't that storm the result of wall street cooling off? Maybe it's global warming, wait it got colder, it has to be Wall street.

This Occupyer has at least one demand I can live with

...except (as most Occupyers) she is so out of touch that she doesn't realize it has already been announced that Arrested Development is coming back.

I'm really surprised that she supports legalized marijuana.
