There were probably several years under Bronco where BYU would have won the Big XII North and played in the championship game. I would put our odds at decent to win the game (Bronco's good teams have been VERY good by the end of the year), but even if we lost, we still very well could have been the second team from the conference into a BCS bowl, especially since the BCS title game has often been Big XII vs SEC.
I'd be interested to hear which season you think BYU would have won the North, and how you think BYU's record would have been good enough to get a BCS at-large bid as a Big XII Championship Game loser from the North division--I know that no Big XII North team has made it into the BCS as an at-large (i.e. after losing in the Championship to a South team) during Bronco's tenure at BYU, and I don't think it even happened before Bronco's tenure. Not only would a Bronco coached team have to win that North division, but they'd have to win the Big XII Championship or somehow be more attractive than the #2 Big XII team from the South, and I definitely don't see BYU getting to that point under Bronco.
Bronco has had some 10 win seasons, but in those 10 win seasons he tended to go .500 against better than average opposition. He "finished strong," not because the team was getting better, but because he finished by playing his last 8 games against MWC teams, and his losses tended to come early against the mid- to low-level BCS teams.
I'm sorry, but I see little if anything in Bronco's tenure to make me think he could have taken BYU to a BCS game in the last 6 years if BYU has simply been in the Big XII at the time.
