Michael Alisa

If Michael Alisa is going to keep racking up 90 yards a game we should get his name spelling and pronunciation correctly handled.



I have been told that there is only one letter s. I have always heard him referred to as Michael. There is a thread referring to him as Mike. I have known people to have a distinct preference about whether or not they want their name shortened.



Birdie claims that Alisa is his or her real name. You never know - Birdie may well be Michael or a family member.



Anyway - out of respect, I think we all ought to work together to get this straight. He is deserving of that respect.



And pronunciation can be tricky.



As Brigham Young once said, "This is the Place" to take care of this important matter.

um, "Pizza"????? Exceptions for derogatory nicknames?

What I meant was, because you kept spelling his name ALISSA, that it bothers me when people either mispronounce or misspell my name. I gave you grief...but glad you got it right this time. :) For the record, I am NOT Michael Alisa. My name is Solefa'amolemolefia'aiisesapasuimamoe Smith. Just call me John for short. :D :lol:

I was gonna say, I hope Michael Alisa isn't reading our board, his head would get too big to fit in his helmet!

eeeeee as in Flee - which is how we would pronounce it in Hawaii

ESPN announcers are great, but they have really provided some true entertainment with their unfamiliarity with our team and how names are pronounced. Pretty clear they didn't practice

Let's also keep in mind that to a certain extent, Alisa may have also benefited from an ill-prepared defense. SJSU had no film on Alisa. I mean the only reason a player does well is when the defense isn't ready for them. Let's see how Alisa does once teams start game planning for him.

And I hope that's what people do, because that will allow us to do that much more misdirection with him.
