Blue stated that we could beat SJSU, NMSU, Idaho, ISU, and even OSU no matter which of our 4 QBs started. I think he also predicted a breakout game for Heaps over USU and made these bold predictions after being a bit off the mark on that one.

Blue has trained me - just state a question. Short and sweet. Let's try one.

Do you think our next opponent is a team we could beatvwith any of our 4 QBs playing?

PS: Hint. Our next opponent beat CSU today by a TD or so. CSU beat USU in Logan a week ago. USU would have beaten our starting QB and took a miracle finish by our 2nd string QB for us to beat by 3 in Provo.

See Question above. Cast your vote.

Could BYU beat SJSU no matter which of our 4 QBs started?

I think the only gimme on this BYU team's schedule is Idaho State. The rest will be battles no matter which QB starts.

Even Riley Nelson admitted as much, which I felt was a very smart statement. No NC hopes, no mirage of unquestionable undefeatedness. Just said what we all know.

All of these games are gimme games. If they are not, the coaching needs to be seriously looked at. You could take the best recruits out of Idaho St, Idaho, SJSU, and NMSU and they wouldn't even sniff our two deep.

I would have no confidence in Jake this week. SJSU would be a close game.

True, but unfortunately for your argument, recruits don't equal results. BYU of all places should know that. We've had some awesome teams with "terrible" recruits. And lately some terrible teams with great recruits.

(And that doesn't come down to coaching?)

We win those with anyone in there. I'm sorry, but a team that barely wins a team that we beat by almost 40 points last year doesn't scare me.

Given how BYU has performed this year - with every win being a close one - every game should scare us. BYU hasn't shown the ability to blow out teams.

Our offensive line is much much worse than last year, according to your own posts, we are or were bottom 5 in every category. We certainly weren't last year when we played CSU.

In fact, we've been reading week after week how every position group is playing so much worse this year than last, which is why Jake Heaps has been struggling.

Speaking of which, coaching issues are a serious problem. Doman is clearly not as good an offensive coordinator as Anae was.

Doesn't always come down to coaching. Chemistry and personality of a team has a lot to do with it, ask ND who has had how many coaches lately, and top recruits? Yet, can't seem to put a winning team on the field. Bronco has also done more with less, and getting rid of Anae hasn't helped the offense like we all thought it would so I'm not ready to pin it on the coaches yet.

You also thought USU would be a blowout. It almost was, just not in BYU's favor. Surprisingly you're now claiming USU is a pretty decent team. Newsflash, no they aren't, BYU is just a very vulnerable team at the moment and SJSU is going to present as many problems as USU did. I have no confidence in a Heaps led offense and I'm cautiously optimistic about a Nelson led offense. After last night I'd say that Nelson gives us a far better shot at winning all those games.

It has been a coaching issue. Finally the coaches figured out what the problem was and made the change. How many coaches do you want to fire for not being able to turn Jake into something he isn't. Doman turned two much less entitled QBs into two of the best we ever had. Last year and early this year they were star stricken. Now they might have finally gotten it. This game is far more about intangibles than arm strength. Heaps needs to work on those on the bench.

The next coaching issue - failure to develop depth at QB in the endless pursuit of Jake Heap's potential. He does not have so much potential - maybe distant potentialvto be developed byvseeing other do what he failedvto do and seeing what made it work better for them. It won't be a stronger arm or tighter spiral. It will be grit and leadership.

We agree - those were coaching issues - should have bencher him sooner - let him compete again next yearv- but get Lark ready to compete - have him take some hits on special teams or running scout team - workingman stuff - builds character.

Blue - What exactly was your USU prediction?

No, with Heaps we would not win and we'd be held under 17 points yet again. Heaps should not see the field again until 2013! I will repeat this as often as possible.

Here we go

Blue you still haven't answered my question. It is not a complicated question, although it may be hard for you to spit out a straightforward and accountable answer. Perhaps you will dodge it.

Q. Blue why can't you answer this question. I am getting really tired of waiting. Straw man!

That is not completely why Jake is struggling. He has been rushing throws and feeling pressure, and the offense and defense, have given up on him. Which is partly his fault, I'm sure.

I have also posted that Jake is struggling, but yes the other positions are struggling too. Some worse than last year, some are better.

But if we have fallen to the point of losing to the SJSU's and Idaho States of the world, then something clearly isn't working, and some coaches should be in serious trouble. Namely, Mark Weber on up. And you go until the weed is rooted out.
