This thread sure is empty considering all of the people who made huge assumptions and wouldn't listen to reason.

If you want to rely on circus catches, good luck with that. Riley has accuracy issues still and his receivers totally helped him out. Not even debatable. What Riley brings is heart and fire, not a strong accurate arm. But I take heart and fire over what I have seen for the last few weeks.



I think he deserves to start. Wnt to see him beat up on crappy teams, rather than watch Jake flounder. Jake needs to sit and watch.

So, when Heaps wasn't getting it done, it was the receivers' fault. Now that Riley is getting it done, it's because of the receivers? I don't buy this, even if it's free.

Heaps accuracy has, unfortunately, been vastly overstated and overhyped for nearly two seasons. Nearly 570 passes into his career, he's a 56% completion kid.

And lately lucky to hit 50%. It cracks me up that some fans don't enjoy watching a scrappy guy who throws an ugly ball make plays. He is our best QB right now and he is fun to watch. He will get us some big leads over some cupcakes - and Doman / Bronco need to use those leads to develop Lark and give Heaps a few reps here and there. And the way Riley lays it all out there, he is always one play away from injury even more so than your average QB.

I'll take a big plate of crow for thinking that Heaps could look good against the worst defense we have faced this year. I expected him to do exactly what he did against CSU and Utep last year. Even when he had time in the pocket to set up, make his progressions, and make good throws he rushed everything and ended up throwing to covered receivers or over their heads.



I still don't think Nelson can throw down field enough to be effective to play an entire game. As soon as Nelson starts playing like Doman did I'll eat crow about him not being able to run our offense.



As of now Nelson = Mariano Rivera. You wouldn't start Rivera, but if your starter is struggling you bring him in for a short period of time and he gets you the win. However, if Rivera was expected to play an entire game he would lose his effectiveness because he really only throws a couple of pitches. Nelson's QB draw equals Rivera's fast ball. Both will lose their effectiveness after a short period of time.



We've seen two buses for fans on this board. One is the Heaps bus. One is the bench Heaps bus. I've been driving the same bus all season: Play Nelson as a situational QB. Bring him in for a drive each game. If he is effective give him more drives.
