Riley Nelson needs to start

Yes, you read it right. I just typed that.



The players responded completely differently to him when he was in. Catching balls they weren't catching than when Heaps was in. Hoffman, especially. Holy cow! He was ama-za-zing in the 2nd half laying out for stuff, when he didn't before at all.



When you have players that admit to playing harder when Riley got into the game, than that is your answer. You either bench the entire offense, or you go with the guy they want to play for. Also, our running game sucks beyond suck, so maybe he can help that.



I really like Nelson. I have defended personal attacks against him, and I really like his attitude. Just a great guy.





He is very easy to gameplan against, so we will see if he can do what he did in one quarter, for 4. But I will cheer for him every step of the way.

(PS, I still think Heaps is the better qb, but you got to go with the guy players want to play for ;) )

And Heaps hasn't exactly been difficult to gameplan against either.

Heaps is better, but I think Riley should start, then we people see the WR dropping passes, we should let Lark start the next one.



Joking aside, maybe a game or 2 on the sidelines will teach heaps.

Count me among the Riley-doubters who are changing their tune. I could care less about the mechanics, I could care less about the ball being on the numbers. I care about results.



Heaps probably could have got us Ws vs. our next three opponents (at least, assuming he didn't continue to bizarrely regress), but I want to watch a BYU team with a BYU quarterback. Riley may not have the mechanics of a BYU quarterback, but that 4th quarter was the closest thing to a BYU quarterback I've seen this year.



Let's see what else Riley, his abs, and his hair can do.

He should not start, but he does not suck, if you watched the game tonight, and all you saw was heaps sucking, you don't know football.

I know football, obviously not on the level of the coaches, but even they knew heaps can't get the job done. It's time you realize it also.

It's not just that he's bad, but he's getting worse from game to game. Something's going on with him. I still have faith in him to eventually be good, because his regression is just so weird that it has to be mental. But he's definitely not the answer right now.

You had me going. I thought you were actually going to do it and I had posted elsewhere how hard it would be for you and that you would not. Could not. More stubborn than Robert Anae imho. Not too late to delete the PS - we already know that - Jake Heaps could throw another dozen passes 15 yards beyond wide open receivers while rushing throws when he had time to wait and you will not see it. He can stare down Apo and the rare others he throws to and you will not get it. He can favor Apo and continue to piss off Hoffman and others and it won't sink in. He can even hang Apo out to dry by throwing to him without seeing the safety moving over from his left for a weekly concussion and you won't get why Apo started hearing footsteps and dropping passes after that. Or he can hit same safety right in the hands as he did again tonight. You cannot see the safety coming over if you lock in on Apo and the guy covering him. You just can't. you can't see that. Heaps can play in fear and you won't see the difference. Anyway - you had me going.

He has lost the heart and soul of the team. It is that simple. He lost it playing scared and not being accountable. Been pointing that out for weeks. He can learn if he is committed to learning.
