Now What?

Ok... we won. Now what?

Now Heaps gets to sit on the bench and work at becoming a better QB, and we get to see what Nelson can do next game and the game after...

Time to move onto bigger and better things. BYU still has plenty of work to do. Even the defense needs some tweaks.

We enjoy the win and let the coachs figure out what there going to do. But I saw a leader out there tonight that I havnt seen the last 4 games.

Now we tweak the playbook (leaving 90% of it "as-is") and get Nelson reps.



Teams coming up are going to be prepped for him, so to expect him to keep up the pace of 1.5 quarters tonight over the course of the next 7 games might be unrealistic, but even with a 25% drop-off we still have a much more effective passer, runner, and third-down converter than we had at the start of the game.

It does not really matter. If they start Nelson, I think he will do ok. I also think Heaps will be a better quarterback because he now knows that he is not the only quarterback that can lead the team. Gut feeling, Nelson starts until the end of the year unless he gets injured.

at least the receivers were catching Nelson balls. We're going to need that when Nelson's 9 yard easy rushes go away because the defense has prepared for it.



but it's time to get Nelson reps absolutely. Heaps needs to earn his way back to the field.

And like last year USU becomes the pivotal game of the season, only we won this one!

Too late to redshirt Heaps this year, but maybe they can redshirt him next year and let Riley start his senior year. Kind of a Wilson-McMahon 1978-79 all over again.

I don't see how you can redshirt Heaps when your starter is a running QB with a history of injuries.
