Nelson did better than Heaps for 2 reasons

1) Utah State did not prepare for his wildcat package and we killed them with it. That won't be available next game



2) BYU receivers actually CAUGHT Nelson passes. Apo, Hoffman, Jacobsen, Kariya all with BAD drops.



Emotional win or not, we rushed the field against Utah State. We going to rush the field v idaho state as well? What bout Appalachian state?



Yes it's a win, but this game was shockingly painful. I agree with the Heaps change though, time for someone else even if it is Nelson.

Or it could just be that he fills his athletic supporter.

I'm not too proud to rush the field when my second string QB leads the team on a 96 yard drive with 2.5 minutes....we freaking won

I agree about the field rush. But at this point you can't blame the fans, it's been a rough year and that was as emotional a game as you're gonna get. Eh, rush the field and celebrate the moment.



And there is no way that BYU rushes the field after the Idaho, or an appalachian state game. Unless there is a last second hail mary or 96 yard TD drive in the closing minutes of a game. ;)

You're mostly right, he did do better for (at least) two reasons. First, he played with passion and the team fed on it. Second, he LED his team and never packed it in.



I'm a huge Heaps fan and firmly believe he's our long-term QB, but it's well past time for that BOY to sit back and learn.

Word. If we had lost that game, our season would be ruined. Done. I almost turned off the game, if I had been in the stadium I might have left early. The cougs were stick-a-fork-in-it done in the 4th quarter of an absolute must-win game, and then won it on a last-minute miracle drive. Let them rush the field.

And I will blame you for being a _____, till you watch and realize some passes were SPOT on, and dropped, some over thrown, yes, but TWO TD's dropped is NOT ok.

Neither is over throwing wide open receivers by 10 yards. Heaps is horrible and I hope Riley starts the rest of the year.

Heaps is NOT horrible. BUT, Nelson's passion got the rest of team to start playing with passion. Receivers were catching passes that they would have dropped earlier in the game ... the defense stepped up.



Riley earned reps as number 1 this week ... it'll be up to him to keep it.



Jake showed some great maturity with how he handled be benched ... he'll come along just fine.

Heaps is bad. Most of last season and 4 1/2 games into this one and we get one td a game with him. Over throwing receivers right and left. Riley comes in and marches up and down the field. 2 td's in the 4th quarter. And people still love heaps. Why? Because he was a 5 star recruit? He sucks!

WR's dropping balls is NOT the QB's fault, sure heaps over threw people, do I think Nelson should start ya, but to call heaps bad, is moronic, blame McKay for dropping 3 passes for 10+ each time, that KILLED the drive, blame the WR for dropping 2 TD's.



But then credit WR for catching BAD passes from Nelson, and that ending play was HIGH and behind.

It never ceases to amaze me how much more we know about the game/team/players than the coaching staff. Heaps is just plain bad? Darn, if only we could have gotten you hooked up with Doman or Bronco before tonight we may be sitting at 5-0. Oh well.



No, BP, Heaps isn't bad, and yes, BYUROCKS, he's had his share of good throws dropped. A change was made, the team responded, and BYU WON THE GAME! Group hug, fellas, group hug.

I'm not a Heaps apologist ... but I don't think he sucks.



He has flashes of brilliance ... but I haven't seen him put a whole game together this year.



He throws the ball well ... sometimes. Othertimes he's so far off you have to believe the wrong route was run.



He's talented. But he hasn't played equal to his talent.



I think it's his heart ... the "want-to" is missing. The passion, the fire, the drive, the will ... they are missing. In my never-to-be-humble opinion ... THAT is Heaps problem. I hope he overcomes it and plays great in the future. But he hasn't done it so far this season.

Your love affair with heaps is a little weird man. Heaps can't move the offense, everyone can see what is obvious. Riley needs to start.
