Big 14??????

Lots of chatter and reports out there that the B12 is going to expand to 14 teams. BYU, plust BE teams and TCU. No mention of BSU.

Like I would believe that Bleacher Report would be the entity that would be announcing such a move rather than the mainstream media.



There's no hint of such a development at Des News, Austin Statesman, West Virginia Times, or ESPN. I'm sorry, but if there were some truth to that substanial of a rumor, I'd have to believe someone of media merit would be reporting it.



The Louisville Courier-Journal has a blog about expansion into the Big 12, but they don't even mention BYU as one of the possibiities.

It would be difficult to get your hands around a conference like that:



Cincinnati, Louisville, WVU, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Missouri

Baylor, BYU, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas, Texas Tech



I've driven from Salt Lake to WV, it takes more than a day non stop (about 29 hrs and 1,900 miles).

When Bronco came on board and there was talk of BYU's foot print (hot beds of membership or alumni), there was a little action in Texas, but just about all of the rest of the areas of this supposed conference is a little out of that footprint. We'd need Pres. Monson to announce at conference that there was a plan for colonization again--of Lawrence, Ames, Manhattan, Louisville, Morgantown, etc. ;)

Looking at it from the other direction, maybe having BYU play in these places will encourage their colonization without the need for an official announcement... ;)

I think that's part of the idea, to expand that footprint. As much as I detest the Lousyville cardinals the stadium is only 30 minutes away and I'm sure I could hold my nose and go see a game there. Besides I've traveled to BYU games in Atlanta and Oxford Miss. and BYU fans travel very well in the East.

You know, Jackson County, MO is right smack dab in the middle of Big 12 Country. Time to re-establish Zion! :crazy:

If you wonder why rumors are out there that BYU is lobbying for BSU, this explains it. Go look at a map of the proposed Big XII teams, and BYU is BY FAR the furthest west. Not even close. We would be the only MTN time zone team in the league. I think BYU wants another western team for travel reasons, and to basically shore up the western edge. Not to mention, chop the legs off the PAC because they becore seriously landlocked.

We won't be traveling to every location. should be just the teams in our division and then half of them will be coming to our place. So three to four long distance games. Seems a lot like independence. Maybe this is why we signed for twelve years with Boise. Whether or not they go to Big 12 they are close.
