nycougarNot sure exactly how the BCS rankings will turn out (since it is the first), but here is my prediction for the AP. It's good news for the MWC (at least for the Big 3) and sets the stage for a huge showdown next week:
1. Alabama (7-0) I think they jump Florida for their convincing win over South Carolina
2. Florida (6-0) Lucky to get by Arkansas
3. Texas (6-0) Lucky to get by banged up Oklahoma (unfortunately for BYU, the opening week win is losing some of its shine)
4. USC (5-1) Poised to sneak into NC game if any of the undefeateds lose
5. Boise State (6-0) Should be ranked lower, but pollsters will keep them at #5 for some reason
6. Cincinnati (6-0) Won Big East showdown over South Florida
7. Iowa (7-0) Won Big Ten showdown versus Wisconsin
8. TCU (6-0) I think it's possible they jump Miami and LSU since the vote totals were very similar last week, plus they killed Colorado St. and their ACC road wins are looking better and better
9. Miami (5-1) Coasted
10. LSU (5-1) Bye
11. Oregon (5-1) Bye
12. Penn St. (6-1) Coasted
13. Georgia Tech (6-1) Beat #4 Virginia Tech so they jump BYU and a few others
14. Oklahoma St. (5-1) Beat a pretty good Missouri team
15. Virginia Tech (5-2) I'm not sure they drop this far, but they do have two losses; we'll see
16. BYU (6-1) #16 seems pretty likely and is a nice position to be in going into the TCU game. If we win against another Top Ten opponent, we not only regain some national credibility, but re-enter the BCS conversation
17. Houston (5-1) Their loss is inexplicable, but their wins against Oklahoma St and Texas Tech are looking very solid
18. Ohio State (5-2) Ohio State is not very good this year, but they stay ranked due to name recognition
19. Utah (5-1) Perhaps no other team benefited as much from this week's losses than Utah. I see them jumping five spots. Hopefully they keep winning until we play them in November
20. Pitt (6-1) Hate to admit it, but the Big East is probably better top to bottom than the MWC. What we have to hope is that their parity allows them to beat each other up by the end of the season.
