Big 12 down to 8?

Rumors are flying (of course) that the Big 12 is still the conference that people want to be out of, more than a part of. It's possible that Missouri is basically gone, and that Kansas is also thinking about making an exit according to rumors coming out as recently as today.



That begs the question will the Big12 be down to 8 teams before BYU even gets the invite? Or if you believe some of the rumors from last night, before BYU announces that they have accepted the invite?



Man, I really hate all this realignment stuff.

Just yesterday I was wonder what exactly would all of us be talking about if conference realignment, Heaps bad play, and black socks/shoes didn't happen this year?

Even BYUDeepThrowt, who has been an INDY proponent, and who denied all Big XII stuff is now claiming BYU signed the Big XII deal last night.



Mizzou will not leave. And if they do--so what. The Big XII is all about Texas and OU, Mizzou leaving is like Colorado leaving. In fact, if they leave and BYU is able to swing BSU in their slot, even better.

The post isn't meant to say that BYU hasn't or wont be offered or that any of the rumors are untrue, simply that the upheaval isn't done yet and there could be teams leaving the Big12.

Mizzou is just another stepchild to UT in that conference. And KU is not even on the family roster. Losing them, assuming they're replaced, doesn't affect the conference much.

Except in basketball, which everyone admits is just an afterthought.
