It's Just the Next Move

The two biggest things that have officially happened today with conference are 1) BYU-BSU deal and 2) interim commissioner Neines has said that Texas teams are back in play.



What does this all mean? I think Big 12 said we're looking at TCU because you're being too demanding. BYU fired back with, "well, ok we're happy with what we have and we've got this in our back pocket (Boise St, with an insanely low buyout clause for a 12 year series by the say). If you're ok, we're ok. Good luck." The key to good negotiating is being able to walk away. I don't think they let us get away.



The second thing this means is that after next year BYU and Utah will be taking a hiatus for at least 2 years, and probably 4. This gets really interesting, seeing as how both AD's wanted to keep it going, Bronco wanted to keep it going (especially if BYU remained Indy), but Kyle didn't want to keep it going. Hill caved to Whittingham (as he probably should in this case) and BYU moved on with the announcement. Look for this series (BSU) to be the same weekend as the Red River Shootout most years.

Anyone else notice that Z. Bloxham and, oddly enough, BYUdeepthrowt have been all but promising Big XII is a done deal for the last several hours? I find that really strange, especially since BYUdeepthrowt has been the number 1 "inside sources say Indy for forseeable future" guy since the beginning.

Sorry to semi-hijack your thread, big10. I agree that BSU is probably more about Utah's absence in our future schedules than anything else.

If what BYUDeepthrowt is saying is true (and who knows anymore), it's a done deal. He mentioned something about scooping ESPN dooms you. I would think we could hear something as early as Friday around game time if this is the case. Anyway, unless something official from BYU and/or Big 12 comes out this will be my last conference alignment post.



Also, it sounds like Bronco dropped a nice little nugget during the coaches show tonight. Kind of cryptic. Really odd for him.

I'm really confused by just about everything people have been saying in this thread... I must of missed the tweets. What's been going on? has there just been more rumors?

My opinion? Byu wants stability. Missou is still uncommitted and is supposedly having some regents meeting next Tuesday. So why would sign anything when missou hasn't decided what they are doing? Makes no sense. And the bsu series is very curious.

Gotta compliment this thread. At least it wasnt false advertising and it adds great context, be these ideas, facts and or even theories.
