Re: Come on Hawkwing!
My wife's comeback, when she's bought something that she shouldn't is, "they were practically giving them away." Yeah sure.
I'm the tightwad in the family. I sprang for some Josh Groban tickets this week for our anniversary and it's the 1st (and I hope the last) that I ever pay $400 for a pair of concert tickets, but there's a story there. When he came through Utah the last time she had gotten tickets and she broke her knee cap at a Elder Holland devotional at BYU two weeks before and couldn't go. I had to take one of my adult daughters. I've never heard the end of that one, and if I'm going to go, I don't want to be where I'm watching the video board to see who the actual performer is.

Sneaky, trying to get two presents for yourself!snoscythe wrote: ↑Wed Mar 21, 2018 4:36 pmYou can do what I did with my last purchase like that. Let her know what a great deal it was, and then inform her that "oh-by-the-way, honey, you now have an unlimited budget at Victoria's Secret!"
Let me know if it works for you.
Totally did not work for me.

Re: Come on Hawkwing!
Just for fun I turned off adblocker, Which I use for many reasons. Living on satellite internet in the boonies and having limited GBs per month being one of those. The last 2 ads have been for "get a job with a tech company", and "make your website happen". ha ha. Zero interest in either and makes me wonder where it came up with those suggested ads.
A while ago, I was following Ukraine news pretty closely. After a while I noticed that ads were about mail order brides from East Europe. I never pulled the trigger though.
I don't think the Victoria Secret shopping offer would have went over well if I had...

Re: Come on Hawkwing!
My wife would be thinking I was joking if I did that.
I've been watching now more attentively what has been appearing. I'm getting a lot of PayPal, TaxAct, memory foam beds, Discover card, and resort/hotel offers. I hate it when I do a search and then get on FaceBook. I search a coin or picture or word and immediately I have adds related to those items. I really don't like anything that is studying my life. It feels like that movie, Minority Report, where when you walked in a mall, your eyes were scanned and ads related to what you have bought in the past show up. I don't know why that bugs me so, but it feels like someone looking over your shoulder as you're reading a book and very annoying. I think I just want to be more invisible in life and not the subject of some search algorithm.

Re: Come on Hawkwing!
I assume that you get more revenue when the ads are clicked on - so I click on one of them about 2 or three times a week just to make you some more money - If I'm wrong in that assumption let me know and I'll definitely stop doing that

Ad revenues are great for clicked on items. Especially if they are actually of interest to you.
