Big 12 going to 9 conference games + 1 home game
After canceling games that don't meet the +1 home game criteria, Kansas, TCU, and Texas Tech do not have any OOC games on their schedule. Oklahoma and West Virginia only have 1 FCS opponent left. Texas will have to decide between USF and UTEP. Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State could drop their FCS opponent and have their schedule set.
If BYU can pick up 2 Big 12 games and 2 G5/Indy games, they would be back to a 10 game schedule (assuming no other games drop like the North Alabama game).

Not even to replace an away game just for 2020? That seems a bit much. You'd rather have to play UConn or UMass instead?

I would rather play AAC teams. It ticks me off that the ACC and Big12 require those games to be home games. If you want to push your weight around then play a FCS team.

We'd all rather have home-and-home games with the ACC and the Big 12. But this is a special year. We need favors. Those in need cannot always be choosey, especially in sports.

That's probably what they are hoping for.
When you are only going to have one nonconference game for each team, the conferences will want to skew the odds of Ws in their teams' favor as much as possible since those few games will be the only real test of the conference's overall strength when it comes time for rankings and (if football is still being played) playoff spots.

Playoffs might be one consideration, but a bigger one is TV contracts. Home games for out of conference opponents will mean more revenue for the conference.

The MWC is going with conference games + 2 to facilitate Air Force vs Navy and Army. The AAC is going with conference games and letting each team decide what to do OOC.
So now we just need everyone to figure out which OOC games they are keeping or looking for. No word on any fresh cancellations or additions for BYU--but they should be due out shortly. I don't know that the MAC has announced their plans yet.
