Re: Dave Rose
It costs money that we may not recoup.
Beyond that, the administration may sense a loss of fan interest.
Way beyond that, perhaps Rose and the team have lost interest in the season and are glad to see it die.

Do we get to wipe away our losses (and misery) as well as our wins?

Re: Dave Rose
Last year when we were a borderline NIT team, Holmoe let it be known in advance that BYU wouldn't be playing in the CBI or CIT if they didn't get an NCAA bid or NIT invite. BYU's not going to pay to play in those 3rd tier tourneys.

Re: Dave Rose
Could you imagine BYU getting bounced in the first round of the CBI? That is the likely scenario, had they accepted/paid for an invitation.

Re: Dave Rose
I think the downward spiral started when Dave Rice left. I would love to see Rose try to get him back. I'm not sure if he is with anyone anymore. He is with WA right now.

Re: Dave Rose
I would think it would be great for the extra practices and game experience but like what Hawk said, imagine the blow to the BYU image if they were bounced in the first round. It would be like paying $50+ to tarnish the image.

Re: Dave Rose
Yeah, Rose was 19-13 this season, but it feels more like 19-55....which makes sense when you remember we lost 42 Ws with the Emery sanctions coming down in the Fall.
