Because we have an inferiority complex. We think we are better than we are. We want to be on par with Alabama but aren't and never will be.

Re: Calling my shot:
I've been saying for a long time now that we've overscheduled continually since going independent. Playing P5 opponents, and the cooresponding attention, is great...if you win. But losing, and losing more often than not, kills that. Can we consider getting humiliated by Wisconsin this Saturday on ABC good publicity?
Since 2011, BYU has played an average of five P5 teams plus Boise State. We all would like to believe BYU can handle that but the proof is in the pudding. We don't have the coaching or player talent level.
We don't need to go back to the Mountain West but Holmoe needs to pull his head out of the clouds and start scheduling more appropriately.
No more than three P5/P5 level opponents. For example, Utah, Notre Dame, and Boise State.
The rest of the schedule should be regional/traditional games like Utah State and Hawaii, the three academies, as well as other independent schools. Something similar to the Boise State model but without being locked into the Mountain West.
Something like this (no particular order) -
1. Weber St/SUU (FCS)
2. Utah (PAC 12)
3. Utah St (MWC)
4. Hawaii (MWC)
5. Boise St (MWC)
6. Air Force (MWC)
7. Navy (AAC)
8. Army (IND)
9. UMass (IND)
10. Notre Dame (IND)
11. New Mexico St (IND)
12. Liberty (IND)

Re: Calling my shot:
I believe we are a middle-of-the-pack P5 team. So are Arizona and California. Middle to below par P5 teams are who we should be scheduling. We need to be receiving P5 money if we're going to schedule the top teams.
That said, what's the betting line on which quarter Wilson makes his appearance. I say second drive of the third quarter.

Re: Calling my shot:
I'll go out on a day-after-a-loss limb and say that the season is in the tank and Jaren Hall will be our starting QB by the end of the year. (I reserve the right to change my mind after BYU beats Wisconsin.)

Re: Calling my shot:
Well, it would take a Herculean effort in coaching to get them to the point where they will score points in this game so I think your prediction is pretty safe.
