Some LV writer is claiming the MWC has the upper hand on BYU.

That was a 10 on the unintentionally funny scale. Truth is that BYU has shown that it way better off outside of the MWC. BYU makes more money, has more games on TV and has played better teams. But goof balls like this call the move a "knee jerk act of jealousy". Yes we dramatically improved our selfs because we were mad. I guess that they have to call it that to make their self feel better. Stupid.

Funnier still is that they're making this claim on a year that we're currently 4-4. We don't need the MWC to go to a bowl game this year, and we're certainly not a playoff team even if we were in the SEC (let alone the MWC). and they pretend that the LV bowl is any better than Miami

Clearly this guy's got serious critical thinking skill issues

I wonder if UNLV has sold out a game since BYU left the MWC? I looked at last year, which was their best year in a loong time and they did pull in at the UNLV stadium15,000 to see Utah State and another 15,000 to see SDSU. So yeah I can see the hand the MWC has over us.

That was pretty funny. Is the Review Journal an actual news organization or a tabloid with a bad website? lol

The Las Vegas Bowl Is Better Than The Beach Bowl in several ways.

A P5 opponent.
A statement opportunity in our recruiting strength - PAC Country.
No Jet Lag
Tons of BYU fans

That is about all the MWC has on us except maybe G5 Bowl Access, less travel, some elements of rivalry, scheduling stability. But TV was intolerable.

Anae just might be the guy. Wisconsin DC says Anae is totally unpredictable because he just runs a bunch of plays with no rhyme or reason. Whooped Butt on Houston DC for 3 of 4 quarters. Destroyed Texas DC and HC careers.

I wonder who the LV Bowl would choose if they had to pick to be affiliated with the MWC or just BYU?

I think they might just pick BYU.

Depends on if they like sell-outs.

I am pretty sure that the Las Vegas Bowl had the chance and chose MWC. When their contract ends, maybe they will choose differently. They do love BYU, and would always want a good BYU team, but what would they do when we were not bowl eligible or when we have a bad team like this year. Yes, our record this year will be puffed up by the 4-0 start, but it is a much different team playing right now.

Don't worry--BYU is scheduled to be back in the Las Vegas bowl in 2019 vs. Pac12. :)

Honestly I don't know why all the complaining about independence and the travel schedule. This year is an anomoly as far as the travel schedule goes (with the Miami bowl it will be 5 trips outside the western states in 7 road/bowl games). BYU usually won't travel outside the western continental states more than twice per season from 2015 on as of right now.
2015: @ Nebraska, @ Michigan - 6 road games scheduled - NOTE: possibly @ Hawaii bowl (unconfirmed)? @ Southern Miss (likely moved or cancelled)
2016: @ Maryland (West Virginia neutral site game), @ Cincinnati - 5 road games scheduled
2017: @ East Carolina, @ Hawaii - 4 road games scheduled
2018: @ Wisconsin, @UMass - 6 road games scheduled
2019: @ Virginia, @ UMass - 3 road games scheduled
2020: @ Northern Illinois - 4 road games scheduled
2021: @ USF - 2 road games scheduled
