Is the WCC expanding any more?

For all other sports at BYU. Discuss anything from Soccer to Rugby to Gymnastics to Chess.

What about TCU joining? Aren't they a religious school?

Barely. In fact, they prefer to not be called "Texas Christian University," just TCU.

That said, a conference of larger religious schools wouldn't be a bad idea:
BYU, TCU, SMU, Baylor, ND, etc.
Will never happen though. I was just thinking about it when a Baylor fan wrote a nice comment on a BYU news story about how they knew how we felt vis a vis the PAC-10 and such.

In light of the TCU to the Big East rumor, and also the rumor that it may be a football only proposition. This should be revisited.

BYU joining the WCC might entice TCU to join for non-football sports as well?

Would TCU Joining entice SMU?

If Baylor gets left out of the next mega-conference shuffle (like they almost did with the p-16) would they join?

Would the presence of Texas schools make it feasible for Creighton to join?

Would a post-sanctions USC decide they would do better as an independent? P-12/p-16 wouldn't allow them to keep their other sports in the p-whatever.

Thanks to BYU, USC wouldn't be the only large school in the league. They're competitive in all sports, good academics, good location, founded by the Methodists.

The WCC has an opportunity to establish itself as a potential home for big time West Coast schools venturing out into football independence, or left in the cold in the conference shuffling.

Texas schools joining the WCC? Portland would NOT be happy.

I realized I left out Tulsa. They'd be a better choice than SMU IMHO.

Now that Seattle University & Denver University are potentially joining the WAC, the WCC's plan of "wait until they're good bball teams to add them" is no longer an option.

I don't think the WCC is inviting Seattle or Denver anytime soon.

Agreed. They've been wanting into the conference for a long time, but it just doesn't help us at all to add them until they can become successful.

After sleeping on the expansion thing, I'm happy with where we're at. We could invite Texas schools/Tulsa/Creighton etc, but we'd have to split into two divisions. I don't really like that idea. St Mary's playing Gonzaga & BYU twice a year each, I like that. In a few years if SU or DU win the WAC maybe the two parties will talk, if not...meh.
