Pac 16 vs the Euro

Post by CougarClaw »

The Pac 16.... This story sounds like it has some historical parallels..

College football world getting tired of SEC dominance just like the world gets tired of US world dominance? (Or perhaps the Pac 0 is getting tired of bottom bowl football SUCKAGE!) What is to be done?

In Europe they found an alternative to the annoying US dollar dominance by creating the Euro. All you had to do is get a whole bunch of completely disparate economies together, take away their flexibility, and create the super-conference Currency: The EURO.

Pac-10 can do the same thing. Since BYU is not a research university (and we HATE mormons) and Utah is in Utah (even if they have fewer Mormons) why not invite a whole slew of other non-research universities (who don't have Mormons) and create the same conglomerate! Down with the Dollar... er.... SEC!!!

For all those interested in how the European union alternative turned out, please direct questions to the Greek, Portuguese, Irish, and German governments.

Love it!

On an aside-the Amero has been in discussion and is being planned as we speak. Bush2 (you know the guy actually responsible for the Gulf Oil leak and Gore's breakup with Tipper  ) is actually a globalist and had established a commission/board/group to work on developing the AmeriUnion (US, Mexico, and Canada). I haven't heard anything about the commission in quite some time but I guess having a communist in charge will do that!

In furtherance of conspiracy theories, I think Juan and Yuan are up to something. Too many similarities to ignore there.

Not sure you can really use the Euro as an anecdote as the biggest fish in the Euro pond did not join the Euro currency, and that would be England, the country with the strongest currency in the world. It would be like the PAC adding 6 teams, but not Texas. And that simply would not happen.

True that England's currency right now looks a ton better than the Euro, but keep in mind the Euro did just suffer through a precipitous (~25%?) drop in value not terribly unlike that Pac 0 suffered the last two years... the parallels keep coming!

And while they kept the pound, England still joined the EU and have been the recipients of a whole host of benefits and detriments as a result.

There's that, AND the fact that the Euro was designed as a counter to the dollar, not the pound, and despite England currently having the strongest currency in one of the weakest world economies of our lifetimes, it's the greenback that everyone talks about/ pegs to/ compares themselves against (PetroDollars anyone?)... just like the SEC. It's where the big boys play.
