WCC Conference 2019-20

ESPN had GU #7 and SM #20. Good chance to get 2 bids to the tourney and if Pope can spin some magic maybe 3 teams for like the first time.

The WCC has had 3 teams before. Gonzaga, SMC and BYU all went in 2012. Also, the norm since BYU has been in the WCC is for the league to get at least 2 teams in. 2016 and 2018 are the only seasons since 2012 when only one team made it.

They have a decent OOC schedule this year. I hope they do well.

SMC has been sand bagging it. Nice to see them beefing up their OOC schedule.

maybe someone finally convinced Bennett it was for his team's own good to play a few non-conference games outside the state of California.

It might be a money issue.

Could also be NCAA tournament money. SOS and whom you beat is the #1 thing the committee cares about. BYU wasn't even that great in 2014 and 2015, and even had some bad losses both those years but they made the tournament because their non-conference schedules were hard and they managed to pick up one or two (not a lot) good wins out of it.

For what it's worth and from what we know of the non-conference schedule so far, we are putting ourselves in a similar position this year provided we can win a couple of the good games while having a decent record overall. We will have a good schedule for making the tournament.

Wow! That is quite the change in pace. I think SMC finally gets it. Slow learners.
