Pacific
It was a good 10 point win tonight. Childs got another double double. The freshmen Harding and Baxter did well. The commentaters cited BYU's defense.

Re: Pacific
Gonzaga is good. Crazy good.
We looked slow yesterday, but good defense by our guys. Cannon did a great job defending Pacific's top player.
Clutch scoring off the bench helped a ton. With Baxter chipping in 10 points or so a night now teams can't afford to double Childs as much.
Fingers crossed we can hold onto 2nd place and get tag bi in the tournament.

Re: Pacific
Rose has slowly being feeling his way to his most talented players. It also helps to that Emery has reduced his offensive load and focused on D. I hope they make one more change.
I think the
Haws
Emery
Harding
Childs
Baxter
line up is our best, most talented lineup. But it would require Harding to be more focused defensively. So it may be a bridge to far.

Re: Pacific
Qman, (interesting user name.) that is a very good line up but I might put Cannon or Hardnett in Emery's place. However, I wouldn't keep any of them out of the game. In fact the bench is doing very well and I see these wins as team wins. Hardnett does need to get healthy.

Re: Pacific
Even if we win out in the regular season. I think we have to win the WCC tourney to get into the NCAA tournament. With as bad as the first half of the season was, I don't think an at-large bid is in the cards, especially in a season where one-loss UNR is ranked in the top-10 but still listed as "Has Work To Do" in Bracketology.

Re: Pacific
Agree. Which means despite how bad the Pac12 and MWC are doing the WCC will be a 1 bid team unless someone other Gonzaga wins the WCC tourney.snoscythe wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 10:31 amEven if we win out in the regular season. Re: Pacific
I think USF still has a viable path to an at-large bid even as the #2, but they'd have to lose to the Zags in the WCC finals.Gunk wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 12:36 pmAgree. Re: Pacific
Yes, but they'd have to get to 2nd place. Could happen and if it did they have a good shot at an at-large bid.

Re: Pacific
I think they could still get an at-large bid as the #3 team in the league with a runner-up finish in the WCC--they're still in the "Next Four Out" category in Bracketology as of today sitting at #3.
I also don't have a lot of confidence in BYU holding on to the #2 spot--SF has a much easier tail end on their schedule:
BYU's final five games:
@San Diego
@Loyola Marymount
vs San Francisco
@Gonzaga
vs San Diego
SF's final six games:
vs Pepperdine
@ Portland
@ BYU
@ Santa Clara
vs San Diego
vs Loyola Marymount

Re: Pacific
The selection committee officially announced seeds 1-4 in each region as it stood as of last Saturday and Nevada they have as a 4. They don't fall all the way out at this point. I suppose if they lost every game from here on out they could, but that's not going to happen.snoscythe wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 10:31 amEven if we win out in the regular season.
