Looks like we have a DBs coach in Jenaro Gilford.

Dick Harmon is tweeting that this hire will be announced before the recruiting weekend along with all other hires---finally a complete coaching staff. Still no word whether he'll go by Reno or Junior.

Any word on Paul Tidwell? I have yet to hear if he was released or if he was coaching some of the linebackers.

The staff is full, now, with Gilford and Mahe without Tidwell.

With the final additions to the coaching staff, Sitake also specified all the position responsibilities for his assistants. Offensive coordinator Ty Detmer will coach quarterbacks, Mike Empey offensive line, Ben Cahoon receivers, Steve Clark tight ends and Mahe running backs. Assistant head coach Ed Lamb will serve as the special teams coordinator and safeties coach while defensive coordinator Ilaisa Tuiaki will coach linebackers, Steve Kaufusi defensive line and Gilford cornerbacks.

I like the additions of Gilford and Mahe. Gilford can relate to being a double-minority at BYU and succeeding. Mahe had serious run-ins with the Honor Code came back to finish his career with BYU. Both will be good examples of how you can make mistakes or look different than the majority of students and still have a great experience at BYU.

I'm glad the staff is filled now. I wish it had more experience in certain positions. I am happy that Lamb is on the defense, he needed to be there. I love Ty Detmer as Ocoordinator but think it is going to take some time for him to get the offense rolling. I like Mahe and Gilford and am happy that Gilford has experience as the DB coach at snow and was successful at it. I hope this staff can figure things out real quick because next years schedule is murderers row. Good luck to them all! Go cougars!
