The Cougars built an early lead, but the Canucks fought back and tied the game late in the fourth. Cougar attackman Aaron Fjeldsted scored with three minutes left to give the team a one-goal lead, followed by another Cougar goal and Canuck goal, making it another W for the Cougs, 8-7.

Next up: #4 BYU (3-0, 0-0) will have a tough three-game weekend vs. #10 Boston College, #8 Oregon, and San Diego State, all at Palm Springs, CA next weekend.

I'm going to predict that we lose a game this coming weekend. Our squad is young this season and hasn't yet been able to put together a complete game. I think a loss will be good for us and help Coach Schneck be able to drive this team to become great by season's end.

Don't miss it, and don't pretend like you have anything better to do.

After a really sloppy back-and-forth contest, #10 BC was able to snag a two-goal lead in the middle of the fourth quarter, causing the #4 Cougs to take big risks that didn't end up paying off and resulting in the final score of 12-8.

The Cougars showed their youth and inexperience, starting slow and never able to get and sustain momentum. They'll take on #8 Oregon tomorrow, which can again be viewed live on The Lacrosse Network's streaming youtube page at 7:30 pm MST.

After the wake up call of losing to BC (didn't somebody predict that? hmm...), BYU built an early lead and from the middle of the first quarter, this game was never in question. The lead swelled to ten goals at one point, 14-4, and the #8 Ducks scored some late fourth-quarter goals against the Cougar scrubs to make it look a little closer than it actually was; final score 16-9.

Next up: vs. SDSU, Sat. Feb. 21, 6:30 pm MST (this game won't be streamed).

Cougs build an early 5-1 lead and look like they're going to run away with it early, but the Aztecs battle back and cut the lead to 5-3 at the half. BYU comes out in the second half and really turns it on, going up 8-3 and looking like they'll be able to cruise, but SDSU again fights back and pushes it all the way to the finish, coming up just short. Cougars win 10-8 in a chippy, physical battle.

Next up: The Cougars will have a week to rest up before going on a top-10 swing through Colorado, playing #7 Michigan St., #2 Colorado, and #1 CSU, starting March 5.

After a poor showing against BC, the Cougars drop two spots to #6 in the latest poll (and BC gets lots of mileage out of their win over BYU, jumping five spots into the top 5):

After a week idle, the Cougars move up one spot to #5 in the latest poll: http://mcla.us/polls/2014/week_2/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

BYU started a three-game swing today, taking on #9 Michigan State. It was a sloppy, penalty-filled, turnover fest, with the Cougars again showing their youth and inexperience. The Cougars took a lead early, but were unable to step on the throat, letting MSU hang around all game, but sneaking out with the 6-5 win.

Next up: #5 BYU (6-1, 0-0) will have a day to rest before they take on #1 Colorado on Friday and then #2 CSU on Saturday.
