Preakness winner an Idahoan
Congratulations to Gary Stevens of Caldwell, Idaho who at 50 rode Oxbow across the finish line not only ahead of favorte Orb, but all the rest of the field as well. He kept Oxbow just far enough in front to keep from being interferred with and let him out on the home stretch.
He played George Woolf in Seabiscut. Woolf was from Cardston, Alberta Canada and I think he was a Latter Day Saint but was unable to determine if Stevens is. One account reported Stevens was an outstanding wrestler but I couldn't find anything about his record. Riding ponies around in circles and making several million dollars at it tends to obliterate any other sports accomplishments. Stevens has won 3 each of Kentuchy Derbys, Preaknesses and Belmont Stakes.
