PROVO, Utah (Nov. 9, 2009) -- BYU men's basketball will host Central Washington in its final tune-up for the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Marriott Center.

Central Washington is an NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Wildcats — who were 18-7 last season and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament — will be playing their second exhibition of the preseason after opening with a 77-48 loss at Washington.

Chris Sprinker is Central Washington’s top returning scorer from last season when he averaged 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He is joined by Jon Clift — the lone returning starter for the Wildcats — who averaged 5.3 points while shooting .452 from downtown in 2008-09.

The Cougars opened their exhibition season with a 74-56 win against Trinity Western on Nov. 3. Junior guard Jimmer Fredette led BYU with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting while adding six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Senior forward Jonathan Tavernari added 18 points and a team-high eight boards.

The game will be broadcast on BYUTV, with Jarom Jordan on the play-by-play, Andy Toolson providing color commentary and Robbie Bullough reporting courtside. To watch the game live on-line, visit BYU.tv.

The game will also be broadcast via the Internet by KSL on the X-Stream with Greg Wrubell providing the play-by-play.

BYU will open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. against Bradley at the Marriott Center.

Miles, 0 points (0-of-2)
Morgan, 0 points

Everyone played at least 5 minutes.

“Tyler [Haws] played well tonight,” said Rose. “He was aggressive and played on attack, which I really like. He likes to make plays on the basket. The same is true with Brandon. They both did some good things for us. The more minutes they play, the better they’re going to get... Charles [Abouo] played really well in the second half,” said Rose. “He got more confidence and got to relax a little bit. He made some real improvements over the summer and we really need to find a way to get him involved... I think we have eight or nine different players who could start.” http://www.byucougars.com/Filing.jsp?ID=13010
