Last year: 4 sacks against BYU, 2 forced fumbles.

So far this year he is averaging a sack and a half a game. The field might slow him down, but I would be very surprised if he couldn't get at least two, let alone one.

Yes, that is bold. Is Aletto good enough to handle Hughes?

that IS bold. I don't think he tees off for four between the sod and the graduation of Oswald, but no sacks? Then again, Clemson held him sackless, as well as AFA.

My initial reaction is to chalk up the AFA game to the fact that the Academy only attempted 18 passes, therefore there were only 18 chances for sacks--10 or so less than you average team. But then you look a bit deeper at the numbers:

Hughes is averaging 0.5 sacks per game this season on the road. He averages 2.167 sacks per game at home. Last season he averaged 1.5 sacks per game at home and 0.833 sacks away with one sack in the neutral site bowl game. As far as games at altitude (AFA, WYO, CSU, Utah, BYU), Hughes has played in 7 games. He has been held sackless in 6 of those 7 games, the lone exception being 2 sacks against a CSU team last season that gave up 29 sacks on the season.

So, McGregor, you may be on to something....I hope you are right!

Is this a Tonga thing?

I'm just a regular, everyday normal guy,
I can't afford a car, I use public transportation,
I don't mind, I read till I reach my destination,
sometimes a newspaper, sometimes a book,
the money I save, this stuff is off the hook,

While Hughes may still get pressure on Max, I don't expect he will have the same impact as last year for 2 reasons:

1. Manase is back. I think the reason we didn't manhandle SDSU last week was because he was out of the lineup (and our secondary was sick...)

2. Max will run more. He may also get hurt, but he has been taking off even more, as evidenced by last week's game.

In the end, I expect BYU to win, and then it won't matter how much of a game Hughes has.

I've been a huge fan of Tonga being back. He is a difference maker on this offense and an emotional leader. Not enough credit is given' to this guy.
